Help needed with DHCP

Hi, I have a SuperLive Plus CCTV setup and the ability to view the CCTV image online has stopped. Everything works ok on the physical box/hard drive recorder but I can no longer view via the app/remotely.
After checking all the status info I can see that the network status is showing the DHCP for both IPv4 & IPv6 as "Failure".
I'm assuming that this is why the app is not able to show the video output. I have followed all the instructions I can find e.g. rebooting, reinstalling etc. but still no joy.
Can anyone help or advise, please?
I have the Virginmedia Hub 5 and the SuperLive is connected via Ethernet through a tp-link adapter.

Got no real idea what I am talking about here but I assume that is meaning it is not being assigned an IP by the network. You say you are using a TP link adapter? is this a wifi extender or something else? maybe that part of the network is down. Can you see the set up assigned IP in the tp link app or VM router pages?

yeah, I was also thinking along the IP not assigned thing.

My off the cuff 'duct tape' thought, has the VM hub been reset and no longer in the . . is it 'radio' mode ? . . that lets it pass through to the TP link.

I don't really understand it, I just know it has to be altered so my TP Link router works :D

I've moved this to the VM internet forum.

It is a networking issue not a virgin media internet problem I would say the issue is the wrong side of the router

It is a plug through wi-fi extender that appears to be working ok as it has 3 Ethernet ports. I have other items plugged in to them on Ethernet cables and I hadn't noticed them not working but on checking I think you might be on the right track - as they also don't appear to be working through the Ethernet but they are able to use wi-fi and seem to have switched to that.
I will check the top-link extender connection tomorrow and see if it's dropped out and causing the issue.
Thank you for your help/idea and I will post an update once I've tried.

Maybe the switch part has died . My honest advice would be to dump the extender and buy a mesh system . They do not need to be expensive but they are effective. I bought a 3 node MERCUSYS AX1500 £80 now likely cheaper on Prime day

Thank you, Jaymoss. I swapped the Ethernet cable into a different port on my router that I knew was working and now everything is back up and running perfectly as before.

Thanks to all of you for your ideas and help 🥰

Nice one and I enjoyed getting the grey matter working. Glad to have helped

My grey matter had almost disintegrated trying to solve the problem. Must admit that I never gave the actual tp-link wi-fi extender a thought just automatically assuming it was a problem within the router or SuperLive settings.
Swapping the cable in to another port had it solved within 5 minutes - where I had been trying to solve it for 2 days!
So once again "Thank You so much" for using your grey matter on this. 👍🏼😊

I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that there's only one of the ports on the VM hub that allows the 'pass through' (for want of a better word) to a 3rd party device.

Isn't that for modem mode?

Yes all ports in a switch are assigned by the DHCP server in the router you are using in Modem mode it does not provide local addresses. You can piggy back switch to switch and connect to another router on a sub net and have 2 totally different networks on the same connection ie 192.168.1.** - 192.168.2.** this is how Mesh systems work

I had not had any problems with the way it was set up since it was installed in 2018. This problem only occurred in the last week and nothing had been changed or interfered with so I didn't know why it suddenly wasn't working.

Electronics eh *tuts* marvelous stuff with a mind of its own ;)

I'm old enough to remember that when the TV went on the blink you fixed it with a good thump on top :D
