Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Breaking

Royal Canadian Mounted Police has said it will stop providing security for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "in keeping with the change of their status".

I'm sure private security firms will be falling over themselves to get a (possibly lucrative, and definitely ego boosting) contract in place ;)

This is an issue because?

I should imagine it would be difficult for whoever provides the security. If they lived in a city where the people can go home and have a family life when off-duty is one thing, but in a more remote location the options are very limited.

Meghan Markle and Harry confirm they will retain security protection after royal split

It is agreed that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue to require effective security to protect them and their son. This is based on The Duke’s public profile by virtue of being born into The Royal Family, his military service, the Duchess’ own independent profile, and the shared threat and risk level documented specifically over the last few years. No further details can be shared as this is classified information for safety reasons.

Although they still need protection, there is no automatic duty on the police force of wherever they live, to provide it.

They should have thought about all this beforehand, if they feel they require protection.

As a son & brother of future Kings of the country, they MUST have security.

Why? Maybe nice to have, but there is no MUST about it.
What might be factored in is their likelihood of being attacked - and if they are financially self-standing, they can pay for their security.

What if someone kidnaps them, and tries to coerce Charles/William...

Then they should have paid for their own security to avoid this. Obviously they can afford it.

They chose to "leave" so they take the consequences.
