V+ update last night.

Did anybody else get an on screen message saying that their V+ was being updated?

This was about 11:30pm on the night of Tuesday night 27 January.

What was the update about? I can't see any changes

Bog standard message when the box reboots. There have been no firmware updates on the V+ for a while now.

When I used my Grandad's V-box recently I noticed on the Home page, there was a picture ad for Walking Dead or some other show at the bottom. It reminded me of one of Tivos Discovery Squares, is this Picture Ad new?

I got the same message too, same time, it wasn't a reboot

It said to expect it to take up to 20 minutes, but it was done by about 8 and I was able to use it again afterwards.

It does seem odd to temporarily disable customer boxes at 11:30pm, when a lot of people are still up watching television at this time.

Couldn't it have waited until further into the night along with the other updates? Perhaps it was something urgent, my box was very sluggish last night.

What was it about? I was surprised to see this as i'd would have imagined that they would be concentrating on the TiVo.

It's just started doing it again. Can't be doing with an unresponsive box whenever VM feel like it.

The EPG and 3:15 am updates are bad enough without this being thrown into the mix as well.

Technical problems happen, Richard.

Is it all right now?

One of my two V+ boxes rebooted at 6am this morning. Couldn't see any changes between one box & the other.

V+ boxes have always updated at that time of the evening.

This wasn't a normal update. It was for some non-standard engineering work, and had to be done early in the night so that it didn't clash with other planned activities. Sorry!

Thanks for explaining SP, all seems well now. What was it for? I can't see any difference, but the box does seem to be faster (unless it's just my imagination :D)

It's also reassuring to know that V+ customers haven't been forgotten with the introduction if TiVo :)

There's now a fault (detailed by MB in the 'Coming Soon' thread) with the 'Customer News' section.

Also, the reoccurring fault with searches not working has returned. IIRC this requires some VM equipment to be rebooted; I don't fancy having to try and explain that to the foreign call centre along with an unnecessary engineer visit!

I'll get someone to have a look at the News thing on Monday. What's the problem with Search?

It's coming back with no results for programmes that exist. IIRC, I think I read somewhere that in the past this was fixed by VM rebooting a server.
