Not getting 152mb

Had cable installed last week, just did a speed test and its averaging 50up/12down. Does it take a while for the speed to rise or is there a fault?

Thanks

Oooh I say!

First off - click here please ma

What does the Primary Downstream Service Flow & Primary Upstream Service Flow say?

The Max traffic rate for 152 service is 168960000 bps down and 12600000 bps up

If all else fails, hit it with a Elsie Tanner - sawted!

It does not take a while for speed to rise. There's a number of possibilities, in order of likelihood, wireless, testing methodology, congestion, network fault.

Go on Dot!

Looks like you're on the right config profile, what are your power levels? http://192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/VmRouterS...wnstreamCfgCgi

Power levels look alright, could be just crap wifi, but you'd need to test wired to confirm

Many cheap wireless cards have a practical maximum speed of about 50Mbps.

did cheesy feet technician not leave you an ethernet cable?

Re: Not getting 152mb

just to clarify the above: there is a highly likelihood that if you connected your laptop or pc directly to the router by wire that you will get max speed. The problem with wireless is that there are many types of network cards which perform at varying degrees, then there is the distance you are from the router and interference as well such as the signal going through walls. Some people can get full speed or close to it if they have bought the right equipment but like qas said, the average over wireless is 50mbits. This doesn't mean that there is a problem with your connection though and that you couldn't get full speed if you chose an optimum connection media.
