Great when 120Mb works.

I just downloaded a 1.71Gb video file via a torrent in less than a minute. The rate maxed at exactly 15MB a second. I calculate 15MB x 8 as 120Mb.

This is ample justification for having 120Mb. My download time minimised my presence on our local network to less than a minute. Even though I was hogging bandwidth I doubt if anyone noticed.

Sorry for gloating, but it is good to have positive comments here too.

I would like faster speeds.

Downloading 10GB+ still means lengthy wait times :(

I get those speeds when i download from a private tracker, i have given up on newsgroups as there are far to many take doqwns these days :)

Even if i get STM'd i can still hit above 70 meg :)

I get those speeds on newsgroups quite regularly but I don't mind a bit of fluctuation as it usually happens at night, when "Series Link", as I like to call it, picks up new epsiodes and films I've been wanting to watch.

Funny enough that's how most companies are currently budgeting for the limited capacity on their 4G networks to work. They don't let you download more, just faster, so you're done quicker and leave the network empty more of the time for everyone else.

It's a concept that also exists in CPU and battery optimization :P

Yeah. I've been using Torrent Day, private trackers for a few weeks now. Since then I have been getting 10MB+

Interesting. VM traffic management won't be thinking that way unfortunately.

At 120Mb you would download 10Gb just over 10 minutes. You looking for faster than that?

That is impressive! Considering I can only get a GB done in 1 min 4 seconds. so what's the secret?

I get the same speed as you 15MB/sec also

It should've taken 1.9 minutes to download 1710MB even at a full 15MB. I am unable to explain why it took less than 1 minute. Perhaps the tracker isn't reading the file size correctly.

Edit.............................................. .......................

Nope it's not that. The file is 1.71Gb. Dunno!

Isnt the profile for 120mb something like 133mbit? So you should be able to squeeze out a bit more if all the stars are aligned etc etc :)

I think most of us on 120Mb get 125 or 126Mb in speed tests. This is because our modems are configured to 130Mb.

However, I have yet to see that convert to downloading a file at 15.75MB per second. Maybe someone has.

Yes I get 130 through DUNmeter but around 126. I have got 128 in the past. Usually my files are about 15/16MB/sec

Compression. Lots of empty space or repetition in the file that can be reduced.

If it was random or already compressed data then you'd have to download that file at 28.5MB/sec to have it finish in 60 seconds, or it'd take 1.9 minutes as you say @ 15MB/sec.
