I am not jumping up and down yet lets see if this is stable for a week or so. But right now defenitly a huge improvement over VM, with streaming, ssh etc.

No.

Settling only ever makes the speed go down, not up.

Initial connection is always made at maximum possible speed.

some more feedback.

youtube is a completely different experience.

HD videos fully buffer to end in seconds and non HD still buffer instantly to 30 secs or so. On VM it was a nightmare. So far extremely happy.

Also some speeds from a nl gigabit server I have which I suspect is affected by VM peering issues.

on VM 560kbps
on BT 7836kbps

is night and day difference

yeah and looks like DLM has left me alone, no drop still on fast path and top IP profile.

I dont know whats up with VM apart from their local utilisation issues, but it isnt just youtube and peak time performance better, on VM simple web browsing I had many hangs and pauses loading pages meaning I had to use a proxy and these are all now gone, as was on the back of my mind if its a pc problem which now I know is not.

I have shared feedback with craig over email as well and he said he noticed the same thing when he switched from VM to FTTC and he wasnt even on a high utilised port.

Hard when you can't quite put your finger on what is wrong. Pages used to load up instantly for my a few years ago with VM. The initial connection seemed to get slower and slower as well as page load times.

Sped the initial connection up by changing from VM's DNS servers but its still not like it used to be.

With pages not loading so fast, I played with different browsers and settings , such as increasing concurrent http requests to a single page/elements on the pages. Even setup my own webserver and changed connection amounts on that. Never could narrow down what wasn't right though.
