Is this a Virgin Media Cabinet i see before me?

If it is, then it's the one currently feeding my needs.

Anyway.. I'm forever seeing it's door open or just lying on the grass, and I've fitted it back myself more times than i care to remember.

Is there any chance whatsoever that if reported, VM could stick a damned lock on it, and instruct their engineers to make sure it's actually closed when they're done?

Obviously it needs reporting and I know there is an easy way to do so. I just can't remember it right now :o:

VM website, contact us, cabinet issue

---------- Post added at 20:08 ---------- Previous post was at 20:06 ----------

or to make it easier:

https://help.virginmedia.com/system/...ATION_REQUEST#

then 'fault with your service', 'I have cable services', 'Street cabinets: report an open door/damaged cabinet'

Whilst I don't want to discourage you from reporting it, I have seen many comments on forums that say that VM don't follow it up.

I myself rang them years ago and was asked if I knew who had done it. When I said I had no idea who or why it had been done, I was sarcastically told "no, no-one ever does".

When I asked what was meant by that, he said that people break into the cabinets in order to avail themselves of free services and that "I must know that".

I didn't (I didn't even have cable at the time!) and asked for an apology for the attitude and inference that I knew of or was party to fraudulent activities. In return I received yet more attitude, so took the appropriate action needed to deal with both problems.

I don't know why they don't take these cabinet reports more seriously. Fixing a door must be easier/cheaper than exposing the insides to the elements, fraud or vandalism.

It could also prevent unnecessary outages for many customers.

Good on you for taking an interest in it, i'm sure your neighbours will appreciate and/or benefit from this public spiritedness :)

I haven't reported many, but the ones I have (I think two now) have been sorted very quickly.

public-spiritedness? I just don't fancy suffering an outage, that could take them forever to get around to fixing lol ;)

That's reassuring to hear, but when you say sorted, do you mean they actually secured the cabinet, or did they just put the door back on and leave?

I'm not laughing. I'm not going to say "we did warn you" either. Mainly because, well, we didn't :D

worse comes to worse find your local VM HQ and go there and tell them or better yet write down what and where, hand it in and someone will surely hand it to a senior in your area.

may be the agent was frustrated with the crap that was going on and youve taken it a little too personal. i wont kick off but it was a joke, the cloning that was happening everywhere! thankfully VM have stepped up big time still theres more to do to not only complete change but keep security peaking with no flaws.

that said im not entirely sure what those committing fraud can do at the cab. most cabs if not all have every cable to property connected from the go.
