France 'has too many foreigners'

Quote:

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has threatened to withdraw from Europe's open border zone unless more is done to stop illegal immigration.

Speaking at a Paris campaign rally, the president said that reform was the only way to avoid the "implosion" of Europe.

He said that unless there is progress in the next 12 months, then France would suspend participation in the Schengen agreement.

The accord allows passport-free travel among 25 European nations.

What he forgets to mention is that all the populatons of overseas French colonies are considered to be 100% French and thus have the right to move to France if they wish... and then are able to move anywhere else in the EU.

Maybe we should do the same from tomorrow. That could save us a few quid :)

We're not in Schengen, and never have been.

If it does, why does France's President say there are too many foreigners in France? ;)

He's fighting a losing battle for the presidency and is now so desperate he's trying to appeal to the far right?

Either because he's a racist, xenophobe or he's hoping enough French people are to keep him in power. Odd how someone apparently so in favour of EU integration should now seem so against one of its key facets.

Yeah, seemingly allow them to enter Eurostar trains and quietly look the other way while they disappear down the channel tunnel.

I don't believe France was ever in harmony with EU immigration policy despite practically forcing it on all the other members ,the French repatriation of Romanies is proof of that

Re: France 'has too many foreigners'

France has never been in favour European integration. France has only ever been in favour of what's best for France. For the past 50 years or more, 'what's best for France' consists of running the EU, whilst making it look as if Germany, or some unelected idiot in Brussels, is actually doing it.

Sadly for France the wheels are coming off that wagon rather spectacularly now ... With the euro imploding it is increasingly obvious that it really is Germany, and only Germany, that has the economic and political ability to solve the problem.

Not really, just go to Brussels, get the Eurostar and change train at Lille. UK is wide open, to all EU immigrants.

No passport is needed.

We are the only country in the European Common Market who has ever obeyed the rules..everyone else regards them as a suggestion or for guidance.
