That's not tax avoidance, that's just our Vince being an absent-minded muppet. TBH my concerns about his presence at the Cabinet table have nothing to do with any suggestions of dishonesty, because I don't think that's what he's about. I'm concerned because he carries on like an absent-minded crusty old university professor, which isn't appropriate for the brief he has (or any ministerial brief, IMO).

disgraceful what paltry fine too dont encourage **** to cough up.

I think review of the taxman system needs doing fine these trash 100% of the tax owed that might make business who can pay and cretins like cable think twice.

Every delay 100% fine increase every month delayed until he turns up pays the the tax and fines.

About time there was incentive to be paid on time what is due.

Accountants Myrus Smith said in a statement: "There are no tax payments outstanding and none are being contested.

"When it became clear that Mr Cable's earnings had breached the level at which VAT was payable, an offer to settle immediately and in full was made to HMRC and this was duly accepted.

"The matter was dealt with within a month of the Revenue being informed in the first instance and is now closed."

A spokesman for Mr Cable said, "All Vince's tax affairs are above board, and he went out of his way to settle this quickly - in fact HMRC let him off 50% of the usual penalty."

Actually in cases like this that is quite normal for quick payment of any outstanding amount .

My concern is why a minister of the crown is behaving like a tv star and charging for appearances .This bill is for "media appearances",who does he think he is ?
