Keep VMNG300 modem when upgrading?
I notice on the Virgin website you can get just 50mbit broadband for £35 without anything else, perfect for what we want. We are currently paying £35 a month just for 20mbit internet along with a phone line and basic TV package that is never used.
Because of some speed trials Virgin did around here we have the VMNG300 modem, despite only been on 20mbit. I presume if I call up and explain I want to upgrade to 50mbit and keep our existing modem, Virgin are going to insist I have to have the new super hub? Anyone know if it will be possible to keep the VMNG300 modem? I know its 50mbit capable as that what was originally given to 50mbit customers. |

No going to 50meg does not require a superhub, they may insist on sending a tech but the tech should let you keep your vmng300

Yeah, they can just upgrade you over the phone.
Just about getting the right tech agent. |

50meg has never been 'superhub only' only the 100 had the superhub 'restriction'

am I really, really, really drunk ? |
Re: Keep VMNG300 modem when upgrading?
As we no longer supply the VMNG300 then it can only be the Superhub for 30Mb and upwards.

Re: Keep VMNG300 modem when upgrading?
It has NEVER been documented to me at least that If a customer is on 10,20 meg or 30 meg with a vmng300 upgrading to 50meg has to have a superhub. 100meg on the other hand has been well documented to having a superhub.
If that was the case why am I not replacing vmng300s for superhubs during a service call? Anyway any tech with half a braincell wont force a superhub on a customer as it doesnt have bridge mode. ---------- Post added at 08:48 ---------- Previous post was at 08:38 ---------- Quote:

Re: Keep VMNG300 modem when upgrading?
As I understand it, new customers, or customers moving to a Docsis three service need to have the Superhub, customers already on the service, but upgrading should also be replaced.
Service calls are not being forced at the moment, but thats just a matter of time I think.. the superhub and the hub to be the only devices on the SACM network .. in theory .. as I understand it .. Oh and I have about 20 odd :) |
Re: Keep VMNG300 modem when upgrading?
if they got the superhub correct the first time it would be nice to have all customers on the same device, 10,20,30,50,100.....
