Stepping Hill Hospital Saline Deaths - New Arrest [Update]

The discovery of pin pricks in vials of saline solution at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, where three people have died has triggered the hunt for a potential killer, police have said and yes its all very scary to see this type of evil sabotage happen again and the sooner they catch the person the better.

Anyone entering Stepping Hill Hospital may now be searched as police investigate whether it is linked to the deaths of two men and a woman.
Police will also attempt to interview every medical professional and patient over the weekend.
Eleven other patients were found to have been affected in the incident but not seriously harmed.
Police were called in on Tuesday after an experienced nurse reported a higher than normal number of patients with low blood sugar levels.

Interesting development?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ester-14256332

Rebecca Leighton, 27, from Buxton Road, Heaviley, Stockport, is accused of three counts of causing criminal damage with intent to endanger life.

She also faces three counts of being reckless to whether life was being endangered and one count of theft of medicine from the hospital.
Why not Murder/Manslaughter? Is it accidental?

Now accused of 6 counts of endangering life and one count of medicine theft.

The reason for not being charged with Manslaughter/murder is simply that until it's confirmed that all 5 who died did so due to the tampering of the saline. Then it'll be a case of whether to charge her with manslaughter or murder which will depend on her initial response.

She's not going anywhere so the police and CPS will take their time to formulate the charges to the best effect.

Title changed due to more deaths and charging of nurse

It will be interesting to know why she did it. and whether she had loads of pics they could have used of her but they chose them ones.

When I looked at her facebook page, there was something like 96 pics, I expect the media deliberately chose the 'best' ones...

Yes M8, Why? What the heck have these people done to deserve being murdered? Its bad enough for people with a reason to kill, but this?

Quote:

The Crown Prosecution Service has decided that it is no longer appropriate to continue the case against Rebecca Leighton, charged with criminal damage intending to endanger life following unexplained deaths at Stepping Hill Hospital, Greater Manchester.

The Greater Manchester Police investigation into the deaths at the hospital continues with lines of inquiry to be pursued. If further evidence is presented to the CPS then the prosecution could be re-started, given the seriousness of the case.
Once again. Is it really sensible for people to have their names, pictures and lives printed in every national newspaper before they have been convicted of anything?

I think that it is as she is going to be vilified for the rest of her life due to this? Even no matter what happens?

I don't think the press should ever report this stuff until/unless the case actually goes to trial, too many lives get ruined for the sake of a few copies of newspapers sold.

So her career is ruined, and will unlikely ever be in nursing.

Which is a shame.

The main problem is that because she has been named and even though the cps has dropped the case untill further evidence is produced people aren't thinking "she has not been found guilty",they are thinking "she has not been found innocent " it may have been better for her had the case gone to court and collapsed through lack of evidence
