I hope VM get the VOD servers warmed up for Royal Wedding Day...

....because despite what the media are telling us, interest in this wedding isn't exactly great. I know no-one whose interested in watching it and if the result of various polls online are any indication, I'm not alone. Hell, if my gym was open that day I'd go for a good workout.

I suspect VM could end up serving a record number of VOD streams that day. ;)

I just really - to put it in a Cable Forum non-swear filter way - don't care about the wedding.

I've never met the happy couple and chances are I never will. I hope they have a great day.

But...I think the BBC are doing something like 10+ hours of coverage on it - overkill much? They reckon 1 in 3 people within the UK will be watching, personally, I reckon it will be closer to 1 in 10.

ITV are doing coverage too and they can't show adverts during their coverage - poor buggers. As the Guardian points out, you've already got supermarkets etc doing tacky Royal Wedding products so what harm ITV doing a pizza commercial during their wedding coverage?

You've got Freeview hoping that the wedding will encourage people to go out and buy Freeview HD boxes - I'd save their advertising money for the Olympics myself.

In short, I reckon people will get  at the over-hyping of this event and fancy watching something off VOD.

I'll be in my car driving back from Great Yarmouth, hopefully everyone will be watching the TV leaving the roads clear. :D

This is the bit where you tell me that all the VOD content that day will be Wedding related. ;)

Lots of people are on leave at that time, because if you work a "normal" Monday-Friday five day week pattern you can have 11 days off on the trot by using only three days leave. I'm on leave, but I have no intention of watching the wedding. In fact I hope there's a full programme of football on the day, though I doubt that.

The Wedding will be nothing compared to the Olympics next year. Plenty of events taking place during the working day, and with auntie beeb no doubt running half a dozen red button streams (which you can't record) it will be a nightmare for some sports fans.

Mind you, I do remember when BBC red button was in it's infancy, NTL used channels 991 - 994 to put out the different Wimbledon streams. That would be very handy next year.

Personally, I have no interest in the Royal Wedding, any more than I do the wedding of any couple I don't know (ie no interest beyond wishing them luck), over 30 million people (about 3 fifths of the country at the time) watched the Charles and Di royal wedding.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ence--now.html

It's also worth remembering that that royal wedding got 750 million viewers worldwide.

Still, I'll be looking to do something else.
