Do you supplement your VMtv with another platform?
Soon I will be moving and this is to a VM cable area so I can continue my current sub.
However my family will be expanding and so my parent will be around more often. It would be nice to have tv channels they can watch too. There are quite a few channels that they watch that are FTA so VM don't carry them. My options are Freesat (but some channels still missing) or FTA by Sky which includes all channels but if I'm paying for a dish I may as well ditch VMtv for Sky as it would be cheaper this way. But then I will lose a couple of features I like on VM (VoD and ESPN) so this is a bit confusing. So I was just wondering if any of you guys have an additional platform to your VM? If so which one and how do you find it? |

Additional to VM and tend to flick between FreeSat and a FTA Sat system depending on my mood. Handy for the extra news channels and music channels which VM don't carry.

Setup your Virgin box through Windows Media Center then the recorded programmes will be viewable in any room with an Xbox or PC. Combine with Freesat and Freeview tuner cards in a main htpc and wa-la.
Kind of expensive but if its for the long term then why not. |

Hauppauge HD PVR. If you have a SA V+HD box then you can plug that straight in, otherwise you'd have to buy a HDFury (for HDMI to Component) which does make you question the cost.

I use a Humax Freesat HD PVR. It has a few niggles but has proved very reliable and rock steady. It has two tuners just like the new Tivo.
OK DF I know that there is a possibility that a third tuner may be "Coming Soon" to the VM Tivo.;) |
