Intermittent Picture loss V+ Service

Hi wonder if anyone can help or has a similar problem i have been getting intermittent picture loss random intervals while watching channels or from V+ recordings i have the older SA box i have swapped HD leads and it still does it i think i have read in other threads there could be a problem with the HDMI socket on the box could this cause the problem contacted Virgin Media who sent signals to the box which should have sorted it but hasnt waiting now for a Tech visit.

Sounds like a faulty HDMI port, yeah. A tech visit is the only option.

Sorry did you test the V+ box on the same HDMI socket as the PS3?

DVD I'm assuming will be through the scart, so you can rule that out. It's the link between the tv and box via hdmi, the chances of two boxes having the same fault is too high. You can use scart or change the hdmi socket and see if it works. What tv do you have, sharp aquos for example are really poor for example

I'm now getting exactly the same problem on my V+ HD box. Switched HDMI cables with my PS3 and same problem (going to a different HDMI port on the TV) so definitely the V+ box.

Presumably I'll need an engineer, but I have quite a few recorded programmes to watch first. Can they swap the HDD into the replacement box so I don't lose them ?

I've been having the same problem for months with my SA box which is connected to my tv via SCART. Picture starts breaking up on both live + recordings. Press re-boot and it's fixed, so not the SCARTs fault.

I presume this means the box is faulty, but I can't get it changed as I'll lose all my recordings.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem I get with my SA V+ but occasionally the HDMI signal will cut out for about a second. It will do this intermittently, say once an hour. The answer is to unplug the box for a few seconds. A reset wont help. It will then be months before the problem returns.
