Grand National 2010

Are you betting on the Grand National this year? Got any hot tips to share?

Select your horse from the poll above, then tell us who you're backing and why?

If you don't want to share your insider knowledge then feel free to just shout and scream for your chosen nag from the sidelines :D

Hmmm.....

Unfortunately I only got 30 entries in the poll, the remaining runners (and the longest odds) are:

Beat the Boys
Ellerslie George Nozic
Preists Leap
Royal Rosa
Ollie Magern
Conna CAstle
Pablo Du Charmil
Piraya
Made In Taipan

You pay more for an each way bet, but if your horse comes in in the first four, you'll get a pay out :)

I think is a 1/4 of the odds you win iirc

Re: Grand National 2010

I've spread my betting over a number of horses this year, I'm working on the theory that although I reduce my payout on a single horse I'm increasing my chances of getting something back. I've also gone for each-way bets in a couple of instances where I just can't make my mind up :D

I've not got an online account, can anyone suggest an online bookie to use? I don't fancy going the bookies today of all days

I use William Hill or Paddy Power.

Ladbrokes and Betfair are both simple enough to use. Betfair seem to be offering the best odds at the moment, perhaps take a look at those two and see who's offering the bext odds on your chosen horsie :)

I did each way on State of Play and normal bet on Character Building at 22 - 1.

My bet to win would be on Joe Lively, just because it's got as much chance of getting around the course as any other entry and none of the horses are named after a shoes designer. :D

Character Building is one of mine - a grey horse with a female jockey ;)

My Will is another because my pops is William :)

Thanks for the info about the bookies, I'm already on Paddy Power now so will go with them i think.

Re: Grand National 2010

Paddy Power pay out on the first 5 instead of the first 4 if you're thinking of betting on place or each way. They still pay 1/4 the odds too.

Last night I put a £1 on every horse over 100/1 E/W - total £16. I've also put a few more bets on today. Fingers crossed I should get some returns!

I got a payout from the boat race last week and £68 from the Lottery on Wednesday as well!
