Virgin Media Price Increase

Just checked my Virgin Media bill, and I have noticed that there is an extra 99P added on to the telephone line rental which was originally £11.00 and is now £11.99.

Also an extra 50P added to the Broadband service which in my case happens to be the M package, originally £20.00 and is now £20.50.

I can't remember being informed of this price increase, and therefore is it legal for Virgin Media to raise their charges without informing the customer first.

Virgin information on price changes here: http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginm...ce-changes.php

Thread about it here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/10...-up-again.html

Not sure about you, but I recieved an email from VM the other month informing of the increase, not that it makes it any better tbh :(

This helps a great deal, many thanks for the links.

Do you think there are cheaper providers around, I ask as I seem to think that their Broadband is much more costly than you read and see advertised on TV from other providers.

Except of course it probably isn't as you'll be receiving a discount because you have the broadband

Sorry but I don't know what you mean, I have looked at the charges, and it says £20.50, so surely I am paying 50p extra from the last bill, and also 99p extra for the line rental as per my opening post, I don't see any discount.

You should have some sort of discount on your services, check your bill :)

I have just looked at the bill on-line, and I clicked on the charges/discounts, and I don't see any discounts.

Just to let you folks have the correct information, there is NO discount for the Medium package, or what VM actually call the smaller package, there are discounts available for the Large package upwards.

Source, VM customer Services.

Re: Virgin Media Price Increase

There is no discount NOW because BB M is a retired service, however there was depending on when you took your services out.

Sounds like you should have a word with Customer Relations who should be able to give you a better price for your set of services

Is there a special number for customer relations, or is it just the 150 bill query option?

Got it sorted, thanks for your help.

Now that I am on the Large BB package, will I automatically be put on the Unlimited calls....Free unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines and Virgin mobiles when you take a Virgin phone line.

Well I have a Virgin phone line, plus TV.

Or is the Unlimited calls for new customers only?

It's for everyone. Everyone gets talk weekends if they have a VM phoneline (£11.99). If you opt for Phone L you get talk evening and weekends (£11.99+£3.45) and if you opt for XL you get talk unlimited (£11.99+£7.95)

Is there anywhere on the My Virgin Media that indicates what actual service I have, for instance Medium or Large phone?

When I log on I see the L Broadband, but wondered where I can find similar for the TV and Phone?

Re: Virgin Media Price Increase

Not at the moment - however you can log onto e-billing which will show a breakdown from your bill

Re: Virgin Media Price Increase

If there is just the one charge for the phone on your bill of £11.99 and no extra charges of £3.45 or £7.95 on top of that in your bill breakdown then you are on the M package with talk weekends. If you are unsure, post a breakdown of your service charges

Re: Virgin Media Price Increase

Thanks guys, I was just about to post that I noticed it was on the bill for the TV and BB, but as you say not on the bill for the phone, but I worked it out by the charges.

I have the L - BB, M - TV, and M phone.
