Opera 10 released

Opera 10 has now been officially released for anyone who wishes to use it.

http://www.opera.com/

I'm seriously giving this a try because i've been disillusioned with Firefox lately, because of it's ugly skin and clunky feel compared to other browsers.

Re: Opera 10 released

problem I have is Opera is a closed architecture and 3rd party browser extensions do not work on it

I love the look of it so far but having trouble with the scrolling, it's not smooth and jumps a mile, probably a mouse setting somewhere to reduce the steps. Also the add blocker leaves a white box on the sites i've tested it on.

Only time will tell whether i end up back on Firefox.

Cheers for the heads up, went to website and download correctly linked to 64 bit Ubuntu version for me :)

is that an official add on? I use roboform to generate and save my passwords and then encrypt them safe so I never actually key in my passwords at all . Roboform says Opera does not support 3rd party extensions but isnt that adblock one?

Unfortunately it still has a problem loading gmail, have to press F5 after logging on....
Still problems on some other web pages I use.
Otherwise, it is fast.

Opera has it's own password manager which stores the passwords in encrypted format, the manager can be given a master password.

Re: Opera 10 released

Whats annoying me now is i want the Personal Bar under the address bar and also hide the very top menu bar, but i can't see a way of achieving this! At the moment it's taking up far to much space at the top of the screen and doesn't look right.

[edit]

Maybe i can use this speed dial as a replacement to the personal bar.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly then right click any of the bars, go to customize and then go to Appearance. You can remove/move bars there. I'll show you my setup for it now. Just gotta upload a screenshot.

I wanted to hide the file, edit, view bar and also place the personal bar(which you have turned off) below the address bar like you can on firefox, but that takes up far to much space, so i'm giving speed dial ago. Just trying to work out how i start with 2 tabs open now (speed dial and home page).

[edit]

How did you manage to move the address bar above the tabs?

no, it's a urlfilter.ini file, liek you can create yourself if you can be arsed by manually blocking sites. with this one you'd need to dl a new version every now and again manually, unlike the mozilla compatible adblockplus which does all the hard work for you :)

the .css file there fixes the formatting issue.

it's not quite as good as adblockplus, but it's better than nothing or IE ;)

I worked out how you achieved it now and managed to get a personal bookmarks bar below the tabs.
