I don't think posing for pictures out of the water is very good for a carp's health. :erm:

Caught 63 time suggests suicidal to me.:)

Yeah, the look on its face says it all.

She'd been eel for some time. Her sole has been gathered to Cod.

This isn't the time or plaice to carp.

According to the lake owner anglers have been leaving nuts in the water which are poison to fish, Benson must have eaten some of the nuts hence the reason why he died.

He looks a picture of health and after catching carp myself he looks better than some of them I've caught, I've caught carp with one eye gone, fins missing and of a dull appearance.

They don't poison the fish, but instead expand when wet so can burst the stomach of the fish

Bearing in mind they were dry when they were eaten.

Clicky linky thingy

A quantity of uncooked nuts, which are toxic to fish who swell up because they cannot process them, were found nearby on the bank.

Tony Bridgefoot, 53, the owner of Bluebell Lakes, said that the angling community was stunned by Benson's death.

Toxic when I was at school meant Poisonous.

Re: Benson has died

What Kymmy was saying, is that the nuts expand (when not pre-soaked) inside the fish. Thus causing Benson, (in this instance) the Carp to swell up.

I know and it's the toxins that make the fish swell up.

Re: Benson has died

The article is extremely badly worded, The words poisonous and toxic is used where in fact it's nothing to do with why the fish died which from unprocessed nuts will be a rupture of the stomach due to them swelling.
