Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I had an email from Virgin Media telling me that customers would soon be getting their internet speeds upgraded, and that the 2meg customers would be upgraded to 10meg.
Does anyone know when they actually plan to do this as it's been quite a while since the email was received. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Upgrade should start tomorrow, but who knows? This is VM we're talking about.

Well that would be good, although they told me that they would be sending out a newer broadband modem that would cope with the higher speeds, never received it.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I've checked up on my modem and apparently it will work with upto 30MB. It's a Scientific Atlanta DPC2100.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Ye gods, ANOTHER thread about this. Don't anybody use "SEARCH" any more? :)

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Did anyone ever use search to begin with? :p

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Mines is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem.
It says that it's capable of providing up to 30 Mbps upstream data rate, and Network Data Transfer Rate: 100 Megabits Per Second. Does the upstream data rate refer to my upload speed? Would the above details be fine for any package up to 10meg? ---------- Post added at 19:20 ---------- Previous post was at 19:19 ---------- Quote:

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Just to clarify the upgrades will begin in May (tomorrow) and the upgrade will be completed by October on an area to area basis.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I live in the 3rd biggest city in the UK (by population) so i'd imagin we'll be upgraded by the end of the month.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I think a little patience is called for.
It is, after all, a free upgrade. If you're on 2Mb now, the odds are that you don't need 10Mb otherwise you would have paid for it. Just chill out a bit. It'll come but, when it does, you may wish it hadn't. My 2Mb has been stable for years and I'm dreading the 10Mb instability you hear so much about. |
