since 1997 i have been repairing computers i have only ever been accused of "Ripping" someone off once and they appologised to me when they found out what i was saying was true. I Supplied a woman with a pc and she contracted a virus and it overwrote the bios on the motherboard and she claimed it was my duty to replace it under warrenty and i told her that no it wasnt because it wasnt a manufacturing fault and she threatened me with trading standards and so on. About a week later she came back all nice and agreed to pay for a new board lol.

i remember reading somewhere about different Trading standards around the country testing their local PC World techs. One which made me laff was they disconnected a IDE Lead and PC World tech said it was uneconomical to repair and tried flogging a new pc lol.

They are ok, i had a Dell man over to replace my hard drive on my 1 week old PC :(

I could have done it myself quite easily but it was free if they did it :p: and he was pretty cool. Just sat talking to him for a while and then he left.

I would trust your small local shop...but not "the tech guys" and any other big company. PC world is just shocking sometimes.

PC World would want to sell you a whole new PC if you took yours to them with your power LED not working lol.

thing is you gotta spend time on the job. The charges them guys were charging are unbelievable.

I charge £25 for the first hour and £15 per hour after but often I never charge that amount

My first comp was from pcworld over 13years ago learnt my lesson now i build my :-) and they work lol
