I normally but my stuff from Amazon or eBuyer...

If you buy from a general high street retailer, you'll probably get a boxed copy. If you buy it online, you can get an OEM version, which is a lot cheaper. (From the likes of www.ebuyer.com, www.scan.co.uk or www.overclockers.co.uk)

Probably cheaper looking for an OEM version, Amazon would most likely be top dollar pricing.

I think you can distribute copies of Windows. it's just the licence that is the legal bit.

He hasn't said he wants a copy of Windows with a licence to go with it :)

Not as cd media you can;t, and it's only licenced for download directly from microsoft..
