is it trying to get into sleep mode? when you say it crashes what does it do? BSOD? switches off? are there any signs of possible short powercuts?

well it crashes in sleep mode when left for a long time so i set it to never to come on and it still crashes, it just freezes on what its on and you cant do anything, but this only happens when my dvd rom is conected

Disconnect the Dvd rom, i`ve known failing optical drives to cause the pc to go tits up.

is anything kicking off overnight like a scheduled AV scan? as you say its stays on all day and only goes off when unattended. ? I would say perhaps its a controller fault but that would effect it at different times

My AV is set to go off at 16 15 every day so its done before the night.

Do you connect the spare hard drive and the dvd rom together and put them back in or connect one and try it then the other?
I`m just thinking that the spare Hard drive could be failing.

Windows update does`nt download, install updates and then turn the PC off does it? Just a thought.

Go into the hardware properties and make sure ur HD is using DMA not pio, via the IDE ATA/ ATAPI Controllers.

If that is already set to DMA, Then try running your pc in safemode with all devices conected over night and see what happens.

Also set your bios to Default before doing this as windows could also be fighting with the Bios which is therefore making it crash. Doubtfull but worth a try

If it runs fine in safemode over night, then reboot as normal not into safemode and then leave it again over night but still @ bios defaults. Also make sure your power settings do not turn the hd's off after a certain time of being idle. Set them to max power settings.

keep us posted :D

As its happening when you are adding extra load to the power supply, I would suggest getting hold of HWMonitor (http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php) or similar. So you can look at how stable the voltages are coming out of the PSU. I think it's the 12V and 5V values you need to look at for CD-rom and HDD drives

Plus to me your CPU temp looks high @ 54°C, shouldn't it be running @ around 40ish. Also the above will monitor temperatures
CPU specs: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD...000CZBOX).html (Max temp. 55 - 63°C)

If you leave the HW Monitor running it will log Min / Max values and if your PC freezes you should be able to see what values you're getting, as long as you don't have a screensaver that is.
