Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
A netstat -a isn't really necessary to see applications actually using the internet.
If you are interested in what's actually using the connections use Task Manager and the processes tab to see the PIDs of the applications, then try netstat -o and match up the process IDs against those given in the netstat. Most of the connections you are showing there are in the process of closing. |
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Ok.........
So how do i fixed this slow internet problem? |
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Try following the above to try and ascertain what is actually connecting to what first.

Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
ermmmm
What is a PID? Sorry i'm not very good at this kind of stuff |
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Process ID, each process has an associated ID number.
|
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Ok, all i've got is Image Name, User Name, CPU and Mem Usuage
|
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
In task manager, choose view -> select columns and tick the PID box.
The resulting numbers should match up with the netstat -o output. |
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Ok, it looks like my virgin media firewall wall was taking up alot and so was firefox.
But what i now dont get is how can firefox take up 16 estabished connections??? |
Re: Ridiculous amount of applications using the internet
Firefox, indeed most browsers, will open multiple connections to speed page loading.
