Teacher sacked for removing shirt in class
 

Heard this guy interviewed on BBC radio a short time ago and have some sympathy for him. A stupid act no doubt but worthy of a sacking? What do you think?

BTW, his account was rather less titillating than the headline in the link I found suggests but that's no surprise is it - it makes much better copy for them this way.......

Oh dear. That probably wasn't a great idea!
But I guess if it wasn't dealt with pretty severely there'd be a certain greying of parameters eventually, surely?

Justified IMO. Had a female teacher done the same then she'd have been sacked too.

That was very inappropriate behaviour..The teacher was rather stupid and should have known better.

I think they need to sack the English teacher as well.

Still, its to be expected. Sacking this teacher is far quicker and easier than having to deal the problem of unruly school children in the first place.

The poor traumatised dears.


I've had a lot of teachers over the years and by far the best ones were the most unconventional and the ones you could have a laugh with. Destroying his teaching career wouldn't do anyone any good.

My personal view is that a suspension would have been a more suitable punishment. Since it's all on youtube he'll find it hard to live down whereever he goes.

What is the world coming to. I can understand if he took his trousers off that would be considered bad taste but this was very tame and I think the Head Teacher over reacted.

A bad decision by the teacher I feel.
Teachers are acting 'in loco parentis'.

If one of my children had come home from school and showed me the video I'd be seriously concerned.
He may well have raised a few giggles and grabbed the pupils' attention but it was undignified and not an example of a good role model in my opinion. He's their TEACHER not their friend.

But I bet none of the pupils will forget that lesson :D

Concerned enough to ruin a mans career?

There are 2 types of teachers IMHO, Those that stand at the front and lecture in boring way and those that take it upon themselves to try and engage the students and actually teach them this man seems to fall in to the 2nd catagory.

I had more respect for the latter approach as well.

I hope this doesn't get all the older blokes, who appear to be wearing short pants all year round, stripping off.
God, don't some blokes have horrible legs. You even see some with the wife in tow, desperate isn't the word.

There's a very fine line in teaching as well as in parenting.......... I've done lots of silly, entertaining things in my teaching years............ taking my kit off wouldn't be one of them - much to everyone's relief :D

And have got, along with other parents, a secondary school PE teacher sacked for totally unappropriate behaviour in the showers.

I'm sorry but this is inappropriate behaviour for ANYONE dealing with children...However well meaning and whatever gender.:(

I don't think anyone seriously thinks it was acceptable, just that the punishment may have been a tad excessive. From what I heard iof the teacher's radio interview, some of the children's actions weren't acceptable either but have they been punished as severely?

Would people be maybe happier letting a teacher , teach in class who had radical views?
For gods sake, the guy took off his shirt and ****ed about a bit and the pupils had a good laugh with/ at the teacher, no harm done. I used to have teachers who were a bit of a laugh, we respected them more than some.;)
