Tory MP blames BBC for attacks on Poles.
Conservative MP Daniel Kawczynski on radio fours morning programme Today, accused the BBC "liberal elite" of concentrating on Polish migrants when talking about immigration. He goes on to say because of this there are increased attacks on Poles and that the BBC are responsible.

Seem so now its politically incorrect to talk about nice immigrants because it will make racists attack them. Oh geese.

Maybe the BBC are responsible for the holes in my socks too |
Re: Tory MP blames BBC for attacks on Poles.
This is ridiculous, the BBC don't express a negative image of Polish people, quite the opposite in fact, I remember a recent program where the BBC focused on Poles working in the UK, they were portrayed as "hard grafters" and came across as very decent people. I'd be very interested to see the evidence this MP has that the BBC are responsible for an increase in attacks on Poles, now his delivered his broadside his got to back it up.

Re: Tory MP blames BBC for attacks on Poles.
It's not the BBC that's inventing stories about Eastern Europeans eating swans or whatever, now is it? Do I really have to spell out where such stories appear? The Tories really are coming out of the woodwork now it looks like they'll win a majority, and it's not pretty.
The insight into Mr. Kawczynski's mindset given by the following two facts: a) Negative media coverage of immigrants leads to attacks on them b) Negative media coverage should be somewhere other than on Poles, like West Indians, Africans and Asians would seem to suggest he'd prefer it if we all attacked some other bunch of immigrants rather than Poles, you know, spread the violence around a bit. Personally I think a responsible MP ought to be concentrating on expressing his abhorrence on xenophobic and racist attacks on foreigners and the media reports that lead to this rather than picking on the BBC, but this is the extreme right of the Stupid Party, after all. Maybe a few Daily Mail front pages should be sent his way. He's a member of the Cornerstone Group, a deeply unpleasant bunch of reactionary sods, also including Andrew Rosindell, John Redwood and Nadine Dorries, who as near as dammit got called a liar in Parliament last week (she was lying, too). They're not your touchy feeling Cameroonies by any stretch. |

Of course it's going at a high rate, that's the whole point of coming out of an ice age. You do realise when your just about out of an ice age, you get a huge speed up, right? Only thing we did was progress it slightly enough to get to that point, it was going to happen sooner or later anyway. I suggest you go back to school and learn something if you think global warming really exists :D |
Re: Tory MP blames BBC for attacks on Poles.
I'm not sure if you're being funny or (more worryingly) serious [and if Damien did "go back to school & learn something" (), he would learn that the overwhelming majority of scientific opinion does indeed support global warming / climate change being affected by human activities...]
Either way, it has nothing to do with the topic...so can we all now get back to the original topic please |
