Logging/Command history for a UBR?

I'm trying to find the command for the command that will show me the history of commands other users have used in the UBR device. I'm trying to figure out where one of my co-workers messed up. I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but any help is appreciated. I do have admin and config rights for this UBR if that helps.

Thanks,
NavyDave1974

Hi, If you have admin and config rights on the UBR but don't know how to get what you want I would be slightly worried.:D
I would suggest you try the Cisco Tech Site as they will be able to provide what you are looking for.

1: If you are a Virginmedia Employee you should not be posting a thread with this subject.

2: Unless you are a Virginmedia 2nd Line Tech or above you wil not have any login rights to a UBR, and it appears from your post that you do.

3: If a person with no idea of what they are doing or looking for had access to a UBR then they could cause a lot of damage to the Virginmedia Network.

4: You should know better than to post something on here with such possible security implications onto a Public Forum.

5: I am going to request that this post is closed and removed by the Moderators.

This could be a Cable support engineer in the States that has used google to find this site.

I am sure the mod's will be able to check from his IP. :)

It still requires removal or closing as it can have a Serious Consequences for Security if passwords or access codes for UBRs are posted online!!

He's not after a password, or an access code, he's after the command sequence/syntax - that information is, depending on the make/model of the device, probably already available online.

Without an appopriate level of access, or appropriate credentials, the commands on their own shouldn't be a problem as there would be no way to cause any changes with them.

If he had proper legal access then the would be no need to post asking for the command sequence or anything else, plus he should be able to ask his colleagues if he has the correct permissions to access a UBR for help.

The are too many IFs or BUTs, you either have proper access or you do not, and you do not use a public forum to request this kind information.

And prey tell how is he going to log-in to a Virgin Media UBR, How is he going to get past the firewalls and the other security that should be in place, If Virgin have been daft enough to keep the password and access details the same as standard then they really do need to look as to why they have been so bloody stupid ?

Any server or router i work on that has a standard set of access passwords the first thing i do is change them all and lock them down behind security Its called common sense :)

Have you read the original post rather than mine, seems he works on 2nd line somewhere and supposedly has some form of access to a UBR and wants to know how to sort out a mistake by asking on this Forum for the access commands for the UBR, all rather suspect, so please aim your comments at the original poster and not myself who is pointing out that his post should not be on here.

SO PLEASE RE READ THE ORIGINAL POST, THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND MY CONCERNS RATHER THAN QUOTING ME 3 TIMES.

Re: Logging/Command history for a UBR?

I can confirm the poster is based in the States given his Comcast IP.

However, I would have thought there would be specialist support lines that a legitimate employee would have been able to use to for this type of kit. I'm not going to close the thread, but urge anyone who does post to think whether or not their content could compromise a network, not necessarily just Virgin Media's

@whydoIneedatech - no need to shout thank you.

Thanks Rob for your input, my posts were about the possiblity of compromising of a network.

shouting lessened.;)

I am glad to that it is not a VM employee as that was my reason for concern.:)

A "show logging" will show you who made a change and when then run a "show logging | inc [first part of the date i.e. 11 May 16:16]" you should then see any line protocols dropping or routing reconvergance.

Also if you are working for a legitimate ISP then you should be using a TACACS server to control access to the network devices, the AAA server will hold a record of the commands the specific user has run.

HTH

EDIT...
Suppose I should also add that if your colleague has not saved his/her changes then you can simply run "show startup-config" and compare it to the output from "show running-config". If they have not saved the changes reboot the uBR this will put it back to the previous configuration.

Also if you don't recognise any of these commands type the following into the uBR... "exit"
