VM Alternatives?
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternative ISP providers to VM?
I'm looking for an unlimited service and I'm in Hertfordshire. Cheers! |
Re: VM Alternatives?
Unlimited on ADSL, you'll be hard pushed.
Work out how far your connection from the exchange is, and compare speeds. You may get unlimited ADSL, but if the speed is no good, you may as well stick with the devil you know. |
Re: VM Alternatives?
Assuming you are on a BT line, with ADSL
You can pretty much choose any ISP! I would recommend visiting uswitch.com for the latest prices However, buyer beware Low price doesn't mean best value I also recommend finding a ISP that uses Direct Debit, as this is a much easier method to amend and cancel, if required, rather than Debit/Credit Card |

What if I cannot get an ADSL service as too far from my local exchange. What alternative to my current 20mb VM service is available.

really... virtually nothing... there is Satellite broadband ofcourse... expensive and slower than cable/adsl! |
Re: VM Alternatives?
Be and Sky. While Sky aren't unlimited, last I looked at Skyuser.co.uk it seemed that they had a 200gb cap. Not bad for £10 a month.

I'm with Pipex. Never had an issue.

Re: VM Alternatives?
Nt everybody's choice bt i would say AOL. they r unlimited without any catch! just pure simple plain unlimited. Speed upgrades r happening. And they would try to break a deal at the end of yr contrak, if u call bak.
Had them for a good few years without any problem. |

that would be wireless/WISPs broadband, satellite broadband, mobile broadband, or perhaps setting up a free wireless Mesh community broadband. http://www.ispreview.co.uk/broadband.shtml there dont seem to be any consumer WiMax broadband providers as yet but it looks like BT and pipex will be looking to that option soon. http://www.ispreview.co.uk/cgi-bin/n...EFpZAElrsgZjWL http://www.ispreview.co.uk/cgi-bin/n...upVypFzwKJpCzF wireless/WISPs already exists in some parts of the country http://www.ispreview.co.uk/review/ce...&category_id=6 http://www.solwise.co.uk/adsl-community-list.htm there are many options to use as a community Mesh wireless broadband so just look through the links to start with http://www.wlan.org.uk/operational_wlan_sites.html http://search.virginmedia.com/result...k&cr=countryUK |

Re: VM Alternatives?
Without a BT line, your only other real choice is cable. And if you're not close the the exchange, you won't get more than a few Mb. You certainly won't get 20Mb.
