Virgin On Demand ~ Brilliant

OMG i have just realised how brilliant VOD is

I only ever thought you could get pick of the week and then the virgin central stuff how wrong was i??

Just checked and seen TV hits and theres loads of great shows on there

All three series of father ted and peep show... + loads of other great shows..

Just really wanted to say top job to virgin and there is no way i would ever move to sky.. i now see why they mention VOD so much. you could spend days watching all there stuff

Just one question it says i get unlimited viewing of a certain programme for 1 day say i watch father ted series 1 episode 1

Does this mean that after i select and view it, it will NEVER EVER be available again, or is there a certain time limit eg a month before i can view it again... if its one time only viewing then thats really not so good

But again top job by virgin except the VOD menus are a little messy and hard to find things

I agree, finally got to see some things, I'd previously missed.

On Demand is supposed to be pay for view (but some things are currently free) so it just means, if you were paying, you can watch it multiple times in a 24 hour period, without having to pay again, but, because some content is currently free, you can watch it multiple times, anytime :)

ah right so if i had to pay i would pay say a £1 for 24 hours viewing but the next day i coule pay another £1 for another 24hours.....

bit stupid of me not to think of that, also you said some things are currently free, is there a time when they stop becoming free!?!?

Also thanks for the reply very helpful

Yeah OnDemand is mint. I thought it was just the Red Button on Ch119 but no! I've been watching Red Dwarf, Shameless, Father Ted, Loads of Docu's I missed lately. It's ace. Pause, Fast Forward and stuff. I love it. Lots of things there I've never seen so I'll be giving everything a try over the coming weeks.

My hours leave the TV boring so something like this is a treat to watch what I want when I want.

On of the things Virgin hasn't yet managed to convey to people is that On Demand is NOT the same thing as "pay per view". :)

Sure, there are pay per view things on On Demand (films, for example), but there are also free stuff (Catch-up TV), and things that you might or might not have included free depending on your subscription (TV Choice).

The whole of TV Choice (or TV Hits as it's called if you're on the old NTL software) is currently free for everyone for three months.

After that, it will be free to people who have the top (XL) TV package, and £5 per month to people on lower TV packages.

There is no doubt that VOD will shape the way we all view tv and with the new deals recently signed it can only get better.
Losing sk1 etc is easily compensated i think.

Perhaps VM should separate On Demand (Pay per View) and On Demand (Free TV catch-up) in the main menu?

have to admit apart from watching bravo I have just watched vod from tv hits.

With vod about to double according to press releases its going to be even better.

There is the odd issue like not all the series is present especially in the bravo vod. I watching the bullrun series cops, cars & superstars but it stops at series 8 so hopefully they will put the finish to this.

I just wondered does barb take these vod & virgin central viewings into consideration when they do viewing habits.

I am sure I would enjoy VOD, but as a Deaf person, the shows are not subtitled so I can't watch them. :(

Its a shame maybe you should contact VM I have done this to try and do something for people who are partly sighted and see if they do a special needs content for disabled. I have yet to get a reply but the more people ask them. I would think they will try and cater for disabled.

yes finally Virgin and VOD are starting to take off.. instead of there being nothing on I have loads of stuff to watch

i used to watch The Simpsons at 6 on a Sunday for an hour.. now i'm viewing Planet Earth as I missed it

the menus need some work as if they double the content you won't be able to find it

lus in the future we need who series to premier on VOD and then you can pay to watch it when you want

Well I'm not deaf but sometimes I struggle to make out dialogue in programmes and like to turn the subtitles on. Still it's only a minor irritation to me, must be a major problem for you. Hope they sort it out.

They could do with subtitles for the sky negotiators so they get the message. "We think our VOD service is superior to the channels we lost from you and we dont want to pay your extortinate demands." :D
