I'm not sure where PCworld have got the 125Mbps from. It's an 808.11g specification wireless with added Speedbooster.

802.11g is 54Mbps. The linkys site then shows that if you have speedbooster enabled products on both the router and the PC or Laptop, (which means you need a Linksys Speedbooster wireless adaptor in your laptop / PC), you can get an extra 35% performance potential.

125Mbps service needs the unratified 802.11n standard. That is not supported by the WRT54GS routers, and most inbuilt wireless cards to PCs / laptops.

They are both 54Mbps at basic speed. Unless you are going to get the extra wirless card for the PC / lappy too, you won't see mcuh difference in speed for the extra money so stick to the standard WRT65G router.

It's just the speedboost technology between a Linksys router and Linksys speedboost adaptor.

You would be wrong not to get the WRT54GS for the sake of a few £. The routers are the same but if you have a compatible wireless card you will get far greater boost in speed between the two devices.

i think my wireless card is this:

Code:

Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection (dual-band trimode
802.11a/b/g) Wi-Fi CERTIFIEDâ„¢ solution, supporting Acer
SignalUpâ„¢ wireless technology

And thats obviously fine, but you won't get the extra 35%(upto) speedboost with that as you would with the Linksys WPC54GSUK Wireless-G PCMCIA Card with SpeedBooster or Linksys WUSB54GSUK 125 MbpsWireless-G USB Card with SpeedBooster
