TV Drive, bypass filter
 

Anyone had a TV drive installed and had a bypass filter fitted?

I had one on the Samsung 2110 that the tv drive replaced but the tech never set up the drive with one.
I use it to feed channel 1 to 5 to my tv/dvd recorder, and old video recorder and tv in the other room as i have no external ariel,
I have the old bypass filter from the Samsung and also one from a pace box but they both seem to need a power feed which i can't find on the tv drive,
Anyone else had this problem?, and is it worth me ringing faults or are they just not available now?

P:S I do suffer the problem with the remote control delays too, is there a code download due for Teesside?
P:P:S, also the HDMI connection does not switch in automatically on my Hitachi 42" plasma, is this normal also,? as it's a bind when the tv fires up on AV1 and HDMI is on AV6

No the tv drive has not got a bypass and will never get one as we have been told .Installs have been warned we do not want to find 2 way splitters behind tvs we will remove them.I am afarid you are going to have to get an aerial fitted .

Also when NTL:Telewest switch off the analogue feed it's going to render these useless anyway isnt it?

Thanks for replies guys, I'll just run it from the bypass on the Samsung box in the other room for now, and invest in a cheap loft ariel, it's only for the tv in the guest room anyway

We bought a cheap Hi-Gain Antenna off of eBay and have it laying across a couple of boxes in the attic and get almost a full strength signal on our freeview box, so it doesn't take much work :)

This may be slightly off topic, but here goes. I have the TVDrive and am getting a new TV with an integrated Freeview box (handy for 2 footie matches at the same time with PiP!). However I do not have an external aerial and the box does not supply any RF channels anymore. Will I be able to use an internal aerial direct to the TV to get a Freeview signal, or am I going to have to get an external aerial fitted?

I am getting a Pioneer 427XD and when I mentioned this problem to the guy in Currys he said that the TV was too big to receive a signal from an internal aerial. Is he right? Thanks in advance.

An ntl engineer fitted a splitter on my tvdrive installation. How come (not that I'm complaining...)?

With it having freeview you should have a loopthrough cable with the set as i have a sony bravia with freeview and i got a loop through cable.

As to the internal aerial he might be right you normally get away with portable and any size up to 32 inch, you could always give it a go and see how you get on and all else fails get one installed on the roof;)

Just had TV Drive installed today and had the bypass installed as we were used to this on the old box (it supplies the kitchen). The bypass just splits the signal and allows it to be fed to the Antenna input of TV Drive.

However, picture looks poor on the bypass channels with some sort of inteference. Perhaps the signal is too strong/weak going into the Antenna input ? Anything I can do to improve it ? I don't want to have to go back to an aerial.

My own experience is that the TV Drive RF is not as good as my Pace box. Doesn't matter anyway when outputting thru' HDMI as this 'deactivates' other outputs.

I have a splitter to my radio tuner. Will this signal die when analogue gets switched off?

Yes once they turn off the analogue signal the fm signals on the cable will stop:)

Mama mia! So to listen to the radio I'll have to switch on the television?
