Hi

Dont think they have actually announced either officially yet ... but with them trialing 20mb the probability is speed bumps sometime end of this year or next year to compete with SKY BB speeds .. i expect as Sky are doing a clean up job at mo with so many new broadband customers ntl:Telewest are gonna have to do something to stay competative so they may up speeds and drop prices especially on the package deals of tv phone & net

we will have to wait and see i think unless someone knows better but then its still rumour until confirmed

See that the telewest broadband offers at the moment are until 31/01/07. So that is around the time we might hear of any new pricing.

Re: Telewest prices

Telewest/NTL are trialling 20Mb at the moment so we should most likely expect another upgrade soon, it'll probably be something like

2Mb -> 6Mb
4Mb -> 12Mb
10Mb -> 20Mb

Nothing is official yet but expect it to be something similar. Other than that, what Bob said.

We've come along way, and today, with the announcement of 50Mb trials... It's really showing, that's got to be marketed as "900x Faster"... :p:

I still have 3 dial-up modems sat in a drawer, none of my pc's have space wasted with them any more mind.

Re: Telewest prices

50Mb trials?

And yes Xan, the lucky people included on the 20Mb trial have reported the upstream speed has been set at 768Kbps. No idea if this will increase any more before the product is fully launched, although I hope it does. 1Mbit upload or more would be nice, and it would compete better with ADSL2+ since that can offer upstream as fast as 1.3Mbps.

u say with the 20Mb BB speed the upstream is set to 768kbps, y is this so low when the BB speed is 20Mb

You could also ask, why is it only 384(supposedly soon to be 512)kbps for 10 Meg customers

Blueyonder has always had a low upload compared to the download

Because of the way DOCSIS works, and also the low capacity of the Telewest network. An upload of 384Kbps will satisfy a 10Mbps download rate, the same as an upload of 768Kbps will satisfy a 20Mbps download rate.

If Telewest don't want to give their customers that little bit extra just for our benefit, that's up to them. It only makes them less popular, and loses customers to services like ADSL2+ where they are available.
