Broadband query . . .
simple question here.
Currently im subscribed to an ntl 2mb broadbandand the digital basepack and phone line package. I would like to know if its possible to have this package changed to a 2mb broadband ONLY package as i cant justify the extra £21.50 a month for a set-top box and phoneline which i never use. I have phoned CS about this issue before and was told that it is not possible to subscribe to broadband internet without the other packages. Now after reading these forums for a while ive seen that other users are doing exactly that and subscribing to broadband only packages. Naturally id like to make sure that i have all my facts correct before i make another call to CS so id like to know if i am right to assume that there should be no problem for me changing my package to a broadband only package. Ive been with ntl for 4 years so im well past any minimum term constraints and am at the point where i will be seeking a new provider if im unable to change the package. |
Re: Broadband query . . .
You can have Broadband without TV/Phone.
You can't have Tv without phone though. I'm almost 100% on this, I'm sure someone wil be along soon to confirm though :) |
Re: Broadband query . . .
Ntl do phone, TV and broadband. there is no reason at all why you cannot have just one, any two or all three of these services.
If your BB is currently via a STB you might be moved onto a modem, although many find the TV part only of the modem is deactivated. The phone line rental is often bundled "free" with some other ntl services like TV, (I say free, there will be a cost buried somewhere and if it goes standalone there will be a rental costs). the only exception that i know of is if you have signed up for the "3 for £30" package (1mb BB, base pack tv, phone line) when you must retain all three services for a year :) |

Re: Broadband query . . .
thanks for the quick responses.
Prob should have clarified my equipment setup in the first post. Basically when ntl was installed we had a set-top box installed downstairs and the ntl phone and sB4100 SACM were installed upstairs where the pc is. Naturally id be much happier only paying the £24.99 a month for the 2mb which from the responses so far there seems no reason why i would be unable to do this :) |
Re: Broadband query . . .
Yep, they can take away your phone connectivity and the STB as well.
You can then have your internet through the SACM. Absolutely no reason at all why you shouldn't be able to have your services as you want them, unless you've signed up to something like the 3 for £30 option (which it doesn't sound like you have). Give 'em a call and raise hell :D |
Re: Broadband query . . .
been there we had to set up a different account for a stand alone modem because it has got to be by direct debit
do you get your broadband through your stb if so that maybe why __________________ i'm to slow:bigcry: |

Re: Broadband query . . .
no i already pay by direct debit and have a stand alone modem, the only issue i have is paying for the set-top box and phoneline which are never used.
Will be happy to phone cS tomorrow now :) |

I want tv only do i have to have phone line is that 100% i want to keep my phone and bb

Re: Broadband query . . .
I don't think you can have tv with out the phone as they bundle it in with the tv "free" but you don't have to use it, you can have tv without BB though :)
