Arab website publishes dirty bomb instructions

Quote:

JEDDAH, 11 March 2005 †” A terrorist group has published a do-it-yourself plan to make a dirty bomb on its Internet site. Named Almaâ₠¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢sadah Al-Jihadiah, the site is run by a group whose aim is to promote and propagate terror activities in the region.

A member of the group, calling himself Abu Al-Harith Al-Sawahiri the Mujahid Sheikh, provides a step-by-step instruction of making a dirty bomb, starting from tear gas canisters to higher-grade bombs, including those using uranium, on the site.

Just great!

Not as though that sort of information is freely available on the internet already :erm: I'm sure that someone will find a copyright infringement on the site somewhere and the Americans will sue to close it down ;)
Anyway we can all rest safe in our beds while there are places like this going strong :p:

Re: Arab website publishes dirty bomb instructions

What these guys dont realise is that any attack on the US will only result in them steamrollering into another country in the Middle east where it belives their base of operations and training camps are (which could be anywhere).

If that happens thousands more die, probably more than would be killed in a Dirty bomb TBH as there is no nuclear explosion in such an event just and widely spread plume of radioactive material, which although (very) expensive - could be cleaned up.

But im sure the expense of such a clean up would pale in comparison to the return gained by the US in controlling the oil supplies in these countries.

On a side note - Blair is a very smart guy at the moment - i dont know if you guys have noticed this but he is trying to push through legislation that would effectively allow them to put suspected terrorists under house arrest, more importantly this is being resisted by both the tories and Lib Dems.

What you may not have thought about though is that were about to go into another general election (May?) and given that terrorists have targeted allied countries in the run up to these events if something was to happen before the election (with the terrorist aim being to remove Blair), he can turn round and say - well we tried to push all this through BUT the opposition opposed it.

Dosent take much to work out where the votes would not go.

I remember, when I read Tom Clancy's "The Sum Of All Fears", he said in the Author's notes at the end that thanks to the break up of the Soviet Empire, it was relatively easy for any moderatly well funded terrorist group to find the info and materials required for a nuclear bomb, and to build that bomb.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

It surprises me more and more every day that there has never (as far as I know) been a terrorist got hold of a nuke and set it off.
