To be honest now I think the cap is only going to affect people who are downloading 24/7 none stop and well we all know that takes some doing unless your downloading things you shouldn't be to sell on which is wrong. I myself download allot of stuff but have never downloaded 24/7. At the most 3days constant but thats it and I've only done that 1 maybe twice in the last 12 months

Especially when you consider that the average mp3 file is 3-4meg. 1Gb would equate to a lotta music in one day!

Whatever way you look at it, it's extra load on the (already creaking) ntl network.....

Indeed, frenetic downloading would also fill the biggest iPod in less than a month. It would give you 797 hours (33.22 non stop days) of music to listen to.

Not much use to us iPodders though!

They are MP3's so surely they can be dumped into iTunes. Sound quality won't be as good as AAC thought, and the image files will be stored separately.

IIRC they don't use MP3s. They use protected WMAs.

Looking at the limited detail on the site, that makes sense...

Merged threads always confuse the hell outta me!! Mimi is right - the new Napster will only have WMA files, as Mp3's don't have the digital rights management.

So for us 'podders we'll have to wait until iTunes Music Store launches in the UK - I think now Napster has there will be a big push fairly soon - although they have run into the arrogant Euro record labels that like to control the market by keeping release dates different in each market. As Apple runs iTunes on a low margin basis they would really need the whole of Europe as a suitable market to make it worth doing.

of course, you could always just use http://www.mp3unsigned.com and find some awesome unsigned bands, e.g. Young Georgian Lolitaz, Devane, Milk, A.D.L.A. etc etc etc

all mp3's, easily converted to WMA
