First one sounds stupid, so I presume that's the correct one!

Should the first one have any commas? It sounds very weird to me.

I think the first one would be correct if it had commas in it.

Re: Grammar question

What about "Regarding this, Roy contacted you."?

*EDIT* or "Roy contacted you regarding this."

Re: Grammar question

The first one is correct but badly punctuated. It is a more Germanic form, but not 'wrong' for that. I voted for option two because the first one is wrong due to lack of commas.

Re: Grammar question

I *think* they are both okay, given the correct punctuation.

Neither.

The first one should be punctuated as "Roy, regarding this, contacted you".

The second should be punctuated as "You were contacted by Roy, regarding this", although it's more informal.

Or try:

"Personally, I feel this forum could do with more regular grammar tests."

;)

Death to excess verbiage!
