Windows Messenger ?

Can anyone help please ?

I am trying to disable windows messenger opening every time I open OE, I have disabled it on preferences or options whatever it was and it still opens
Also I have used the plugin from Lavasoft , but it still opens when opening OE.

TIA

I have not been able to disable this no matter what I have tried ...

I am not sure whether it is impossible and is required to load no matter what, but I would be interested in the solution to this if there is one ...

But I dobt it :/ after all I have tried (/gets ready to be made to look a fool :p )

In OE, have you tried Tools/Windows Messenger/Options/Preferences, under 'general' uncheck both "Run this program when windows starts" and "Allow this program to run in the background."

block it with a firewall such as zonealarm. iF YOU STILL NEED A MESSENGING SERVICE USE MSN MESSINGER

Re: Windows Messenger ?

Yep, I have actually uninstalled messeger which is an option in windows setup after installing service pack, and it still runs even when windows has supposidly removed it ...

I doubt it can be done to be truthful, I have tried for months (a few hours at a time of course ;)

Its not a problem of the software running because we dont want to use the messenger program, its the fact that we dont want the software to open itself when we open outlook express after we have even gone to the extent of uninstalling the software...

[QUOTE=Flubflow]Try this........

That program is designed to switch off the messenger service running in windows XP or 2k and not actually reffering to Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger...

Its to stop popups that are recieved as a result of this service running.

Wont fix this problem.

Have you tried this?

Click start/run stick this in then click ok

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

edit: If that doesn't work, try this

Try this - it will disable the messenger service...

Or -- you could just stop the service in management (if ist 2k or xp) :)

Again, the messenger service is absolutely nothing to do with MSN or Windows Messenger.
