Hi all,

Anyone in the Bromley area experiencing trouble with news servers? For the 3rd day running now, I've had a problem viewing and posting on newsgroups. I noticed earlier in the week that NTL were doing some work near Orpington, but for the last 2 days, I've been unable to view the service status page, so what use is that?!!

according to the server staus page , it has not been resolved , mind you nowt new about the newsgroups being crap :(

Yes I've been having trouble too with newsgroups, missing multiparts, posts not uploading, etc. Bromley area too, must be a general problem.

status page is down for me too. - what server are you using, babelfish?, I just got on ok using

news.cache.cable.ntlworld.com

Whichever news server i try to get on, i usually fail :(

all i get is 1455 (0x000005af) & thats a direct link to it.

(I wonder if ntl have a status page, to show the status page getting fixed?)

in my xperience text.news.ntlworld.com always works - thanks beet_woot?

course you don't get binaries via that server.

Just tried downloading something through news.ntlworld.com message post purged. logged into claranews and got the download?
What is going on with NTL'S news servers they are getting worse not better

Well ive not been using ntl newsgroups as i didnt even know they worked at all. :rolleyes:
Seriously ive just tried to connect after a format and i cant even log on to retrieve the list of groups.
So now its poor browsing and no news, soon be back to erratic e-mail to complete this glorious service. :(

Well, the problem seems to have been fixed, just managed to download some new posts. :)

poolking - which server(s) do you have set for newsgroups? - I think I am on about six - both ntl & free. - I can usually get one of then working ;)

or the most reliable, but text only

text.news.ntlworld.com

Oh whoopee doo, permission denied errors again, maybe I shouldn't have cancelled my £11.99 a month claranews account. :rolleyes:

Can't get any newsgroups on those 2 servers either and I really need the binaries so the text one is no good to me.

Oops got the connection set wrong thats why those wouldn't work, doh!!

:wavey: First off i am new here so hi to all and second i have long since given up
on NTLs nesgroups i now pay an alternative for my access, but just for fun i tried to use NTL and no go, so back to Eurofeeds for me :p

Anyone know what causes this:

when I try to post to the news group? I've not used news servers for years since I was with demon when I was a lad. Sorry for jumping in on someone elses post, I'm just a chancer at heart. ;)
