Getting people to use my site!
As per subject!
What's the best way to attract poeple to come to your site? So far - I only have a handful of users...would like to kick it into gear with a few more! Cheers Lee |

Could join a few other forum and keep it in your sig, newsgroups are good for generating traffic but mainly you will need to get some linkage going from other sites etc.

As someone said before get some content.
You have what - 6 downloads and 6 articles? Not really in line with your tag line... Quote:

Getting visitors onto peoples websites and gaining high up positions on search engines is a tricky business. The general rule of thumb at the moment seems to be to get as many relevant sites to link to you and you to them. Look for similar types of sites (computer type sites in your case) and see if they do link exchanges. Forums as suggested are a good way to links back to you. Good luck!! |

Re: Getting people to use my site!
Have you submit the site to the various search engines, theres nothing nicer than the patter of tiny spider feet :)

Re: Getting people to use my site!
Content is king, when I worked at Freeserve I set up a forum/ webs site to provide information to Freeserve users (it's since expired as it was only useful if kept upto date).
I loaded all of the installation tech and downloads together with all of the un authorised fix's to problems. I had links to avg and spyware removers and without listing it on search engines was soon placed higher for searchs than Freeserve and the modem manufacturers. Content is is king (worth saying twice) , as is making sure its updated. If Google see's fresh content and new links to your site every week it ranks it higher. Stay clear of flashy flash and go for lots of text. Once Google loves you site many hits will come. |

The site is not that old and I've not really had time to get a load of stuff on there.... I will get some more tools on there asap. I've also signed up for some Google Adsense so hopefully that'll generate some hits... |
Re: Getting people to use my site!
With regard to Adsense I would be very mindful of the ads that are displayed, you don't want forum members clicking on a 'dodgy' ad like 'drive cleaner' or 'winfixer' and have the possiblilty of getting infected. Just my 2 pennies worth ;)

Re: Getting people to use my site!
I managed to get 2000 users to a website of mine in 24 hours.
Its not easy to do, but what i did was Member of a very busy popular site that linked to conent on rapidshare to save there bandwidth, most people hated rapidshare i had loads of bandwidth to share so with the sites permission, I linked to my site offering direct download, modst people the nregistered as my site had good content... |

I have Adsense on loonyasylum.net and never see such Ads, all the Ads I get are relevant to the contents of the page.

Re: Getting people to use my site!
Don't know too much about all this, but have you added Google site maps ?
I think it takes alot of time, but should help the googleb bots. But as has been said before, content is often the best way to get people visiting |
Re: Getting people to use my site!
hi
to get visitors links are important what you put in you title tags is as well. meta tags can be useful but modern crawlers dont tend to pay too much attention to them although still good to use em. and like as been said before good content, when google visits your site it scans the body of your page so make sure that in your document there are words you would use to search t'internet relevant to your subject. and obviously submit to all the search engines ya can also add your self to dmoz.org you might not notice a difference straight away, google send its bot out about once a month so could take upto a month for changes to take effect. i just looked at your source, at the top section. in your title tag i would add to what you've already got plus more keywords about your site and pad your meta keywords out (won't hurt) godda go little un is playing me up lol |
Re: Getting people to use my site!
Right, I think you should have a major rethink. Giving out news using a forum is not the way to go...there are plenty of good forums out there that are going to do it better than yours...thats a fact.
What i think you should do is start a way of giving out news each day via a.......wait for it......a blog ! Def the way to go ! |
