[Merged] VOD Pick of Week - Missing Bits

Alright.... what clever clogs at NTL (or the Beeb) decided to have only part one of the Casualty two parter on On Demand?

Now I'll never know what happened!

Re: On Demand

It will probably appear later in the week...

Re: On Demand

Hmm.... well the first part was on the same day it was shown. The second part was on the next day and............. nothing since.

Not looking hopeful, but I'll try and stay optimistic :p:

On demand is a great idea, if only you knew what stuff was going to be on there. Anyone got a copy of Causalty Part 2 ?

Pick of the Week - Missing Bits

Hi All

Posting on behalf of the Mrs.......

She has just watched Saturday nights edition of Casualty via the OnDemand Pick of the Week......as it finished it said "Part 2 tomorrow night".....

Guess What.......

Part 2 is not on OnDemand - who should the problem be addressed to? What is the point of showing Part 1 and then not Part 2 and then showing the normal Saturday episode next week ????

Re: Pick of the Week - Missing Bits

Either it'll be available later in the week, or the (automated?) system hasn't picked up that it was a two parter...

Perhaps it's been assumed that Casualty is Saturday night & Saturday night alone!

Re: Pick of the Week - Missing Bits

Thks for the answer - was thinking along the lines of "series link" so who needs a nudge ??? BBC or NTL ? Is it available on the pick of the week on other platforms ?

Re: Pick of the Week - Missing Bits

the pick of the week thing often takes its time to catch up... things appear two or three weeks after they've been on telly, and there's still an old top gear episode from august on there somewhere!? can't complain really; it is free after all. :)

Re: [Merged] VOD Pick of Week - Missing Bits

But if you can't rely on these programs being on there it makes it a useless freebie. Need to get the mothballs off th VCR :(

What really annoys me is I saw part one was on pick of week so was watching that while Part two was in transmission, expecting that to appear later. They got the part one and two of the first spooks episodes, this weeks hasn't shown up yet.

VOD when launched was supoposed to be brilliant, and ntl's answer to SKY+, at the moment, it isn't showing it's potential for me.

So who do we need to address this to ? Is it the BBC for not pushing the programme down or NTL for not grabbing it ?

Ideally it needs to be on this week because I assume there is a Casualty on Sat night so it would be helpful to have it before then! (Mind you Star Wars Episode III is on so she won't be watching BBC1!!! ;) )

i've filled this in as feedback on the NTL site.. at the moment we have no idea what is going to be there and so it can't be relied upon.. until we get a shcedule of what and when programmes will be on here it's only mildley usefull

if they had a schedule people would then be checking it every few days and as they checked that they might also purchase another VOD item.. if they don't make us look at it then it won't help them generate any revenue

This has happened before. I missed the last episode of the last series of Casualty, plus my disgruntlement at the second of the first two parter of Dalziel and Pascoe is well documented.

In Points of View mode 'Why o why o why cannot they be consistent about what is added ?'

I also noted part 2 of the two part Casualty hasn't appeared. Thankfully my Tivo recorded it (sorry, now deleted).

TBH, I agree with Rob. Unless we know what is going to be on VOD and when, it is useless. I would even go further and say that it needs more content. I mean, lets face it, if what you want to see isn't on the BBC or a movie, you have a good chance of it not being on there.

At the very least, we need to see a few more channels supporting it.

By any chance has there been a code freeze, no new eastenders since last friday either... perhaps not updating until the channel re-shuffle settles?

and thats the problem, we all know its got potential but some Exec in NTL:tw is treating it as a cash cow before its even become well used and bug free, its not rocket science, put someone on duty to check the stored programs to find and report missing program content before it goes to the live server.

if NTL:tw were to include a way for us to pick our prefered
content for pick of the week etc it might get used more, weres the channel 4 programs 'that labour loans investigation' on POTW for instance.

if we dont see any free cost content you cant also see on DVB freeview then whats the point of it, we might just as well go out and buy a DVB-T USB card for our computer and use that as our free digital VOD.

and VOD is not free, for instance, remember how we broadband users can see 'LOST' part one and part two for free BUT on the VOD NTL:tw make a charge for these , like i said, cash cow.

part two of the free cost 'red dwarf' is also missing.

Re: [Merged] VOD Pick of Week - Missing Bits

I suppose in NTL's defence they have always been upfront that the VOD trial for BBC Pick of the Week was free as it is supposedly a trial (I'm sure I read that in some gumph or other).

The irritating factor is the very recent inconsistency as to what gets selected. Eg Rogue Traders was picked for the last series, but not the current series...why ? Who actually determines what gets selected - maybe it is out of NTL's control ?

Anyway, these recent events have meant I can no longer rely upon it, and have taken to recording off Freeview - VOD would only ever get used by me when there was an NTL clash, and this should all be academic soon, once the PVR is up and running :)

Have put some feedback into the NTL site - will see what we get back (if anything!)

.

BBC provides the pick of the week so C4 shows aren't included!

Lost Pts 1 & 2 were free on VOD for a period of time at the start and also during part of September.

I do agree though about the lack of updating this week:mad:
