Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

HI
I am fed up with NTL, poor broad band performance, bill, customer services and video on demand problems.

I wish to take my cash elsewhere anyone idea of alternative deals out there that match NTLs.

I Currently have the phone, tv family pack, and 4mb broadband.

TV Family pack at £8
Digital base pack & phone £22.50 - £5.50 Free 1/2 price line rental =£17
Talk unlimited £14 currently free
4mb broadband £12.49 currently half price

Taking the above my monthly outgoing should be approx £51.50

Thanks

Mr E

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

When you take into accounts your current half price offers you will be struggling to get any other similar package for the same money unless your area has a stable/ working ADSL LLU running.

How much do you use your Broadband. Both those packages have a 40 gig limit. Sky have not said how much they are going to charge if you go over. If you use any form of p2p you will have problems on both packages as they are heavily traffic shaped :(

Dont do much in the form of downloads but use my broadband for browsing the web and play xbox 360 live.

My wife sometimes browses the web, while I am on xbox live.

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

Can you get Sky BB yet though? A lot of exchanges (ours included) are not yet enabled which is why I mentioned the LLU situation.

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

Contacted Sky my area does not have sky bb. They will let me know when it is available though.

What is LLU?

Guess I'm stuck with NTL, going to talk to them about my tv box, have read some where that they shall be introducing HD by end of year is this here say?

What the cost of HD box?

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

LLU = local loop unbundling which is what enables companies like Talk Talk, Sky etc run ADSL services from the exchanges.
I thought you might not be lucky enough to get Sky BB as they have only rolled out a certain number of exchanges so far. Do you know what other ADSL suppliers are operating out of your exchange?

may help

It means you should be able to get BT ADSL broadband, NTL (obviously) and Easynet ADSL. Have you looked at BT as a possible provider?

Seeing as Sky own Easynet, I would suspect that you can get Sky BB.

I saw that, but perhaps the OP got through to a less than informed CS Rep?

Mr E 04-09-2006 22:58

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

yes it was a rep who checked their system, i then checked the sky website and same result.
bt seems much more expensive 22.99 for 8mb on bt total broad band they don't even have the tv option up and running yet

my details are regestered with sky now so maybe someone will pick this
up about easy net

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

check your line here, need Bt phone # so use neighbours number to get estimate of expected performance.

http://www.prodigynet.co.uk/menu.php.../adsllinecheck

If it says 6500kbit I expect your line is fairly short and should expect good performance, if its below 6500kbit and/or one of the fixed speeds isnt green status then your line quality/length may reduce the level of service you can get.

Mr E 05-09-2006 23:31

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

Thanks for your reply.
Bt seems rather expensive.
Would need to get neighbours phone number.

telewest is the way forward

Re: Leaving NTL whats the alternative deals

Cant switch to telewest as I live in a NTL area.
Telewest and NTL are the same company but unmergered.

Once mergered I think they shall be renamed using the Virgin name.
