Unpaid Bill

I have a feeling the slowdown could have something to do with an unpaid amount of money of £35 to them.

Do they usually throttle your connection to a crap speed? or terminate your service?

Do they call up to resolve the issue?

This wouldnt surprise me, as when i had cancelled my bb,cable &tv, and was in dispute over how much i was willing too pay, i suddenly lost my bb connection, and low and behold as soon as the cheques i had sent them had cleared, suddenly no flashing lights on the modem or set top box!!!

I see ... well i'll find out today what the issue is

I just had my Internet and phone go down since Wednesday, had to contact them by mobole phone:Yikes:
It seems that when i canceled my TV and just have Broadband and phone, had to have a new DD, they have not added my phone to the new DD so in 8 months i owed £80 which i had to pay today:shocked:
The internet and phone are now back on, it could have taken 24 hours, they seem to get worse!!!
It supprises me they could not take it all on the new DD, but we are talking about NTL:mad:
When my contract runs out in December will look around for a new supplier:p:

When i cancelled my digital tv they where meant to move my phone DD over to my broadband bill. However they failed to do this, so after about 3 months of not being billed for a phone line i phoned them up to explain the problem. They quickly sorted it all out and told me i wouldn't have to pay for the 3 months i had missed as it was their fault.

Err, it is standard procedure in most service providers that they cut you off when you don't pay.

Just to reply i thought they would add it to my new DD, what a stupid idea:dunce:
They have my email address, which they send me notice to take payment, but this is NotTodayLikely:mad:
As i stated , in my original thread, am now looking for a new provider as my contract runs out in December :)

I've just had a interesting conversation with NTL CS:cool:
It seems thet, after the merging with Telewest, you will only need one DD and am getting a £4 discount and free calls at the weekend, in UK up to 59 mins, plus half price BB for three months:)
They further state any new deals are also for exsisting customers, and not for new customers only, what a result for a phone call:D

Re: Unpaid Bill

Just seeking a spot of advice from fellow members, if anyone can help I'd be grateful.

I had a spot of financial trouble a little while ago and got into arrears with my TV account. (phone and BB ok) I agreed with a member of the credit team that I could re-pay over 4 months. I was on full package but did not wish to, nor could I afford to, have movies and sport in the future. I have 1 more payment to clear the arrears and I have just got my latest bill (not sure what happened to the last 2) and I am being charged £22.50 on top of my arrears for services that I am not receiving! (base pack).

I am not blaming NTL for my situation, but when I asked CS what the £22.50 covered they could not give me a clear answer. Now I understand that the base pack is £11.50 when taken with the telephone line rental (£11 = £11.50 = £22.50) that would make the base package.

I appreciate that my services would have been restricted and I would still be liable for telephone line rental (the £11), but I cannot understand why I am being charged for the base pack when clearly I am not receiving it. (I am only getting terrestrial plus ntl channel, sky news, bbc news 24, the radio stations, VOD channels but no VOD.)

Not asking for sympathy, just an explanation (that CS were unwilling to give me!)

TIA

:0)

Re: Unpaid Bill

basically your still being charged for the base pack, the reasoning is that you have been downgraded for non payment so still have to pay for the services.
although to save a couple more quid you could call CS and ask to be put on the select pack, thats line rental plus 5.50. also you could try and ask to be put on the free tv package, its worth a go.

Thanks for that L&C; I understand that I am being charged for the base pack, but I am not getting it. For example no ITV3 or Sky 1, but these channels are listed in the base pack. My question should have been, is this normal for someone in my situation?

Re: Unpaid Bill

unfortunatly yes, when a service is restricted because of arrears you are still charged for it, normally credit control will put it on the cheapest package so im not sure as to why you have been put on the base. id defintaly call CS to reduce it as far as possible

Re: Unpaid Bill

Further to my little saga mentioned above; I haven't had time to call CS back about this issue, but I had a "courtesy" call from NTL this evening asking about my "arrears". I explained to the nice lady that I had this issue with being charged £22.50 for not getting any services (bar Ch 1-4) and that CS hadn't been able to help or explain why it was so much (I expected to be paying the line rental for the phone line). She went away for a few minutes and then came back telling me that there had been a mistake and that she was crediting my account with £46 (yipee!). She then asked if I was in a position to pay the balance of my arrears now. I explained that my next payment was due at the end of the month (as agreed with NTL) and that it would clear the arrears then. She then tried pushed me into making the payment today, in exchange for "Free" tv for life! A tempting offer, but with ever increasing utility bills and the urgent desire to put food on the table for my children, I had to decline! I then notice on the "news" page here, that NTL are offering new or existing customers free TV when any telephone package is taken!

Is it me or am I missing something here? Was I being offered what every other NTL customer with a phone line is being offered? I have telephone as well as BB, so shouldn't I be getting the "free" tv package anyway? (notwithstanding the fact that I have had arrears!) Am I wrong in assuming that as long as I clear the arrears (at the end of the month) then shortly after, my tv will be back on? As I mentioned before on here, I am getting more than just 1-5 terrestrial, but not enough to equal the basic package (i.e. no ITV4!)

A confused and (rather dim tonight) Sipowicz!

Re: Unpaid Bill

lol i havent heard them doing that one before, i bet if you had paid the credit control person would have put you on the free tv package that is widely for sale.
generally when ntl or any company phone me i tend to refuse point blank whatever they are offering.
if it is really a good deal, then the offer will still be there when ive gone and had a look at thier website etc and i call them back

Re: Unpaid Bill

I had the distinct impression that they were hard up for cash, as they even asked if I had a friend who could pay on a credit/debit card for me, if I couldn't!

lostandconfused 19-09-2006 23:32

Re: Unpaid Bill

giving free tv isnt really going to help a cash flow problem, the reason they would have asked if you had a freind that yoi could pay on theoir card is that that way they have the money while your on the phone, otherwise all they have is the promise that you would pay in the near future.

Re: Unpaid Bill

Well they called back, I asked what the difference is between the "offer" they were making and the normal NTL package of free tv with a phone service. Not surprisingly there isn't any!

On another matter, I spoke with a mate of mine who moved house last Friday, ntl were moving his services over on Monday. He rang me monday to say that they had not moved his old number, but issued him with a new one. I tried it tonight, it didn't work so I tried the old one; that didn't either! I rang his mobile and left a message, he called me back from his landline 10 minutes later. I did a 1471 after and got a completely different number from the other 2 (original and the "replacement") I told him the "new" number; I learnt a few new swearwords tonight....

lostandconfused 21-09-2006 01:31

Re: Unpaid Bill

you would have probably be installed with a new temporary number whilst the old one is being transferred to make sure he didnt have any loss of service, but is call CS to make sure the old number is being transferred over
