Is that to include monitor? if so find what you want then come back with a price just for a tower and some ideas what its gonna be used for.You wont have a problem with a good machine for that price

Re: Need Help with new build PC

It will be mostly used for gaming. The case i am getting is http://www.xcase.co.uk/acatalog/XG_Dragon_case.html

This is to include a monitor also. I found an Acer 19" tft for £180 i think, may have been cheaper but i am still looking for that right now.

Just the tower is gonna be right around £1,000. Should i go for dual core ?

Re: Need Help with new build PC

oh yes without a doubt.
And you could also test out AM2 boards and ddr2 memory for us if you wanted :) lol
4200 / 4400 cpu unless you want to go higher £300
Nice crossfire mobo I would opt for sapphire I like £100
2 gig of corsair xms £150
74 gig Raptor £122
optical (pioneer or nec) £25
About 700 quid so far so gfx
X1900xt £300 theres your grand spent :)

You will need to add an extra driver for storage but it wont go to far over budget.Didnt include your case either lol

note also could be a sli motherboard and a 7900gt (gtx for 40 quid over budget)

Well actually....i just got handed the money which was £1,300. 19" tft should be about £180 and case is £120 so thats £300 which leaves £1,000 for the tower less the GFX card which we have.

Re: Need Help with new build PC

Re: Need Help with new build PC

now that i have a basic list of what i will need where would you reccommend to buy as to get the best price ?

Just google the items ? I don't mind searching for the items myself but if you have a site that you use then it would save a alot of searching but if you want to tell me to GO SEARCH YOURSELF i will. LOL

Re: Need Help with new build PC

Well look at places like overclockers.co.uk and scan.co.uk theres loads of places and some people have had different experiences from different suppliers.I use overclockers as a quote price as there normally pretty close to what you will end up paying all over:)

My local supplier would sell me the parts, then charge JUST £20 to put it together. If I told them I had £1480 to build a PC with, they'd love it! They're pretty comparable to online prices aswell, so you might as well go local... I would.

Re: Need Help with new build PC

Almost forgot the most important part...... The OS. Which should i go for, XP Pro or MCE if XP then x32 or x64 ?

zing_deleted 26-05-2006 19:54

Re: Need Help with new build PC

what graphics card you going to be using??
As far as os check your devices if u can get 64 bit drivers then xp64 all the way.I wouldnt touch media centre with a 20 foot pole :) If theres things you need to run in 32 bit then either dual boot xp64 and xp 32 or stick with xp32. I think xp64 is a cracking os mind far better than 32 bit for me

The reason I ask about gfx is if you already got an nvidia buy a sli board, Also make sure the sata 2 hdd will work on the sapphire board. Ebuyer has a 320 gig western digital sata 1 drive (wont be much slower than a sata 2 ) for 67 quid

Re: Need Help with new build PC

Graphics card is a Power colour ati radeon x800GT pci-E 256mb

Re: Need Help with new build PC

Ok so the boards good just check support for sata II its wouldnt be too much of a loss if you have the sata I

zeus9876 26-05-2006 20:24

Re: Need Help with new build PC

and for peak hard drive performance the Sapphire PC-A9RD580Adv boasts two ATA133 ports, SATA RAID 0/1 and SATA-II RAID 0/1 support.

With that said looks like everything is a go yes ?

All these prices mainly came from overclockers but i will be shopping around for these excact items elsewhere to get the best bargins.

Re: Need Help with new build PC

UPDATE.

I've talked my mate into spending a few more ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£ÃƒÆ ’‚£ and we are now going for the 4800+ and a better GPU. I have about £200 to spend on a GPU so i am in need of the best one for that kind of money.

Thanks
