1mb NTL Broadband
OK - I have 600K connection at present - Is the extra £10 per month worth it for the 1mb service?
Yes - I know i'll hit the cap quicker - but as noone seems to have had a letter etc. then so what!!! My weekly download totals for the past few weeks have been: 18.27gb (guess there's some PC-PC traffic here!) 1.16gb 3.29gb 950mb 5.71gb 1.05gb 300mb 679mb 910mb I would probably download more but get fed up of waiting! |
Re: 1mb NTL Broadband
its very much worth it if you intend on downloading large files or indeed if you want to get your files quicker the speed is fantastic
i have had 1mbit since day 1 almost of its launch and id never drop to 600k unless the price went up  |
Re: 1mb NTL Broadband
like kronas says, it all depends on how much you plan to be d/l'ing.... i have 1mg, but rarely use the lot....but then i get it cheap anyway :)

The only reason I would consider moving to 1 meg would be if you are intending to download DVDR size files (4.5Gb) which take about 20 hours for me on 600k. It would be nice to get them in 12 hours but not nice enough to pay an extra £120 per year Andy |

but yes if your planning on downloading the rather large files and dont want to wait longer then 1mbit is for you just weigh up the pros and cons as i said im happy with 1mbit |
Re: 1mb NTL Broadband
I had 1meg so my lad and i could both game on line. He got so fed up of it he got his own adsl put in. Ive not gamed in the last 6 months or so because of it, ive downgraded to 600k and although its still pretty cr@p, its cheaper. So no, i wouldnt pay for 1meg, 600 is fine, sort of. ;)

Re: 1mb NTL Broadband
wait till they upgrade the speed to keep customers example 150k to 256k,600k to 850 1meg to 1250 and launch 2 meg

Get 1Mbit if you want to down faster simple :p
Forget the cap its not even worth worrying about and at 115k/sec it can't be bad :p Thats if you wanna spend the extra tenner a month |

Re: 1mb NTL Broadband
It's interesting how NTL are now directly competing with AOL's 1MB in terms of Price. THey are both £35pm.
AOL have always been that little bit more expensive haven't they? Will NTL reflexively reduce the price? They dont have anywhere near the same portal content as AOL so how will they justify the price? |

If your happy with your NTL service then there is little point switching over to a BT phoneline. If your not happy this is how easy it is to transfer to BT 1. Phone BT and tell them you wanna a BT customer, they ask you basic questions your name/post code/house no. etc.. and then if you want to transfer your NTL phone number if you answer yes then they ask you for your NTL account number, then they give you a date when an engineer will come out and reconnect you. Next step 2.Phone NTL cs and tell them you wish to give them 30 days notice (you will probably be passed over to someone who works in customer relations) they will ask you why you wanna cancel. You then give a simple reason :) If you are worried about being BB less dont worry you can still have NTL BB without a NTL phoneline, until you decide which ADSL provider you wanna switch to (switching to an adsl provider can take between 10-14 days or in some cases less) sit back and wait for the BT reconnection/connection date (usually within 7 days) |
