am big texter. . call people occasionally. not really looking for pocket office something that looks good and is good build
|
Re: new phone
O2 are doing the mini xda for 50 quid on an online contract.Problem with o2 and the new Phones are your stuck with an 18 month contract. The packages for £25 a month usually gives 100 mins and 750 text or 200 mins and 150 text. If its just an upgrade then Nokia have the N70 or the 6280.The N70 is a symbian phone which will mean you can get TomTom on it with a blue tooth GPS reciever ;)
|
Re: new phone
i was looking at xda exec and mini lol but thought with two pcs in house and xbox 360 would i really use it.
ive been looking at; LG KG800 Chocolate Nokia 6280 (as you recommend) Nokia 6111 yeah ill be wanting O2 to give me a sms heavy contract. i rarely do call. |
Re: new phone
If you can, go for the N80. I had a play with one in Carphone Warehouse yesterday and I'm getting one next month. I've said it before and I'll say it again - the N80 is the shizznit.

Re: new phone
looks good. main points id like are very good screen and battery life. problems with my samsung were that battery didnt last long and screen always faded in sun. 6280 is lookin promising.
|
Re: new phone
I was going to go for the 6280 until I saw the N80. If you can, get along to a reputable phone shop and see if they'll let you play with both models together as I did.
|
Re: new phone
yeah thats what gonna have to do. i was stupid before and went by friends only recommendation of samsung and other than screen n battery it would have been great phone. .
anyone any tips of haggling as O2 have been constantly ringing me about upgrade and friends keep tellin me to get freebies n better deal of them cause they want me to renew. |
Re: new phone
Just threaten to cancel your contract, and they then seem to offer you virtually anything, they offer me money off my contract each month, £100 credited to my account and loads of other things, but this was to keep the contract and not change the phone, although they did offer me reductions and one phone for free.
But after all of that i actually canceled the contract and started a new one, as they wouldn't let me get the phone i wanted, due to it apparently being out of stock, and me not spending enough on my account, so instead i ordered it the next day and it was dispatched the same day! I recently got the Sony Ericson's w810i, not a smart phone but its got the Walkman player in it. Works very nicely battery seems to last about a week for me. Good camera, screen is clear, its got a brightness sensor so it changes depending on the conditions. I'm pretty happy with it, although the Nokia N80 does look like a very good phone. |
Re: new phone
I have been looking at a new phone too and the Nokia N80 seems to be one of the best new phones at the moment.
The LG Chocolate phone seems pretty good as well. Although I am going to wait till July now as the SE K800i is due out as is the Nokia N93 which looks to be the phone of the year in terms of features. Try www.mobileburn.com or http://www.mobile-review.com/index-en.shtml for phone reviews. |
Re: new phone
website i use for reviews on mobiles and checking out the specs is
http://www.gsmarena.com/ shows nearly everything about the phone and I have to say that I'm going to upgrade my k750 for a k800 now :D |

My wife has one, and it's very flimsy, evrey time you slide it open it almost feels like it will fall apart! The keys all flex & feel like they will push though and break, especially the 4-way nav button. Apart from that, can't really help with any recommendations, I have a very old & battered Samsung! |

FleXt 25 - £25 a Month (600 Free SMS or 300mins - thats 5hrs) or any Mix of the Two... Really they give you £60 Month to use on Calls, SMS & MMS. Go to Argos Mobile http://www.argosmobile.co.uk/ or Carphone Warehouse On Argos T-Mobile Section, you can get a Nokia 6111 for £14.50 a month (FleXt £25) but you get CashBack so over 18 Months its £14.50. .. or £21.40 for the FleXt 35 (1800 SMS free) |

With the N93 having WiFi, will it be a case of finding a wireless connection and bobs your fanny's aunt your on the net? Emmmm free net... :disturbd:

---------- Post added at 20:01 ---------- Previous post was at 19:24 ---------- I have the Orange C550 but what is the name of the company which makes the phone as i am sure you can find the same handset under a different name or names |

They usually offer the phone at differnet prices depending on what your monthly rental is at.

while we have a phone thread. what think of sony ericsson k800i?
|
Re: new phone
Its a great phone. Although as I have the K750/W800 just now I am gonna go for the Nokia N93 instead, as I want a change due to having a few SE phones in the past.
It would be almost the same phone but with a few better features. They are very similar in terms of specs but I would still go for the N80 over the K800i. |
Re: new phone
Yep the SE W800i is an amazing phone  ;)
|
Re: new phone

Personally i would go for the w810i though- looks much better imo. |

N93 is going to be my next phone. I doubt they could make it any smaller due to the optical zoom lense the at the phone has. |
Re: new phone

however, personally i don't care about the camera too much- but i think the k800, despite having very good features, is just ugly... far too square, so on looks only i would choose the 810i |
Re: new phone
n93.. black? or silver? dicisions dicisions. I bet the majority want black.
|
Re: new phone

It might look like its very square, but having held one its fine. The edges are more curved than you'd think. Its not much bigger than the W800/K750 either. Quote:

Re: new phone
N80 arrived in the post today !
Same contract with Vodafone (£15 a month) - £99. I should add that Vodafone wanted £270 before I asked for the PAC Code. I got a phone call two days latter offering me the same deal as on o2 website (and same cheaper contract). |
Re: new phone

I've been getting some good advice from TheMoneySavingExpert.com (this year long thread) I'll be giving o2 a call sometime in august to see what they can offer me. :tu: |
Re: new phone
sent n80 back and got K800i far more superior phone. the N80 battery life was shocking. worse than my previous z500 samsung.
so far k800i is amazing. screen is best ive ever seen on a mobile phone and ive had it since monday and hasn't still got 90% charge. |
Re: new phone
Quote:
I would still go for the N80 as it is a smart phone and has better expandability in terms of programs available. |
Re: new phone
GF just got the k800i and have to agree it looks really good. Screen is amazing.
|
Re: new phone
I like the way the n80 handles web pages. I'm worried that if I do go for the n93 that the battery will be crap! This seems to be a problem for a lot of nokia phones.. I just wish SE would come up with something that has the n93 features with superior battery life.
|
Re: new phone
Was shocked at how bad the N80 battery life was so I took it back and now have a Nokia 6280 - possibly the best phone I've ever had. It's better than the SE W800i I last had and that takes some beating. The picture quality from the camera is outstanding and the video recording is ultra-clear, not like the disappointing blockiness of the SE.
The only downfall is the memory card is only 64MB and the predictive text doesn't store new words. Plus it generally feels a bit plasticy but I'll put up with all that - this phone is ossum. |
Re: new phone
I can't wait to upgrade!

Darth how bout we settle this over a friendly game of Table Tennis. . lol
I must admit when first using the N80 i thought it was amazing but i have had too many bad experiences in past with samsung to go another year with a phone with bad battery. K800i has been godsend since got it. |
Re: new phone
well from tomorrow I'll have mine....glad I got my contract from CPW as they give you an upgrade in the 10th month on your 12 month contract :D so tomorrow morning/afternoon I'll be testing the thing out and transfering my whole bloody phonebook again but thats not too much trouble I hope I use FMA (float mobile agent) which has all my contacts stored so send via bluetooth and should be ready to rumble and test the phone properly.
Akane quickie for you....whats included in the box especially the headset. |
Re: new phone

have to say that if I didnt get free upgrades with my contract I would've been perfectly happy to keep my K750 as its probably 1 of the best phones that I've had for the last couple of years :D
|
Re: new phone
got me K800 now and omfg its a monster :D :D and shame that it has the crappy standard headset but then again its not walkman branded.
|
Re: new phone
k800i has 64mb built in memory. so you can put some mp3s and photos saved. I love phone soo far

I always find that with new Nokias, they set a date but never seem to stick to it, its almost like NTL :)
|
Re: new phone
Had my k750i for about a month now. Really happy with it, except for a couple of minor niggles:
- need to install drivers for the USB connection to work - no headphone socket (you can get adaptors off ebay for a couple of £) - doesn't have Dermot O'Leary's number preprogrammed into the contacts list |
