Couple of sites not working...

Neither www.gamefaqs.com or www.gamespot.com are working for me - and haven't been all day. Few friends scattered around the country on NTL can load them up just fine.

I'm in South Manchester myself. Any ideas please? Thanks

*moved to proxy and web browsing forum*

Try changing your proxy server and then accessing your sites. Instructions and a list of proxy server addresses can be found in our articles section.

Probably just as well. Had to have a look, got attacked by popups (despite popup killer).

I've just got the usual www.ebuyer.co.uk won't work, www.ebuyer.com will.

Re: Couple of sites not working...

Very true, are the proxies there usually poor?

Chrysalis 01-05-2006 18:28

Re: Couple of sites not working...

sites often break like neowin.net will be broken for a week then work for 1 day before break again, sometimes get "page cannot be displayed" for no apperent reason even with refresh. Speeds were good for around a month until 3 days ago they have gone incredibly slow so whenever accessing a webpage now their is a big pause before it starts downloading data. Even right now 888.com simply has no response but worked fine when I selected a ntl proxy from diff area.

Re: Couple of sites not working...

img339.imageshack.us also down on ntl wccp in leics.

Chrysalis 19-05-2006 23:59

Re: Couple of sites not working...

img75.imageshack.us

seems the proxies not such a fan of imageshack, people like to use imageshack for forum sigs so this often makes page loading freeze.

Chrysalis 21-05-2006 02:59

Re: Couple of sites not working...

I believe its all of *.imageshack.us now 3 more subdomains dont work also.

If I specify a proxy works fine its just the leics wccp.

 welcome - such irony for a first post :D

I'm not in Cambridge, but have had a couple of 'hangs' tonight, that are not normal - and are not always solved by changing proxy settings, so with it seeming to be affecting more than one area, it 'looks' like the DoS spectre is a possibility, again ???

Not a lot of use when it's a DNS problem. ;)

Now none of the proxies I am using are working for the BBC News site - looks like the PC's will get a rest tonight at this rate!

Can anyone recommend a reliable ISP? :D

Please continue to post in the thread linked below. Thanks.
