encrypting wmv files

is it possible to add a password to wmv files just a simple one by any chance for my school TOP SECRET movie that is being shown soon but i dont want anyone to see it before

Re: encrypting wmv files

why not .ZIP the file and put a password on that? then you can rename the zip to whatever and people will think it's something different, so won't even bother trying to open it.

Re: encrypting wmv files

wont work on 2000 without installing something like winzip

Re: encrypting wmv files

install winzip?

Re: encrypting wmv files

You can create self-extracting zip files... All you need is a program like Winzip to create them, not open or extract them.

Re: encrypting wmv files

yeah we cant have winzip at school

Re: encrypting wmv files

Re: encrypting wmv files

we cant right click

Re: encrypting wmv files

ok - there's a pattern of blocks by admins coming up here - what CAN you do??

Re: encrypting wmv files

F2 it (to rename) and just change the extension. When you want to use it, change it back, but it won't work until you do (and you know the correct extension) so no-one else can see it.

Re: encrypting wmv files

I know!!! How about you DON'T SHOW IT TO ANYONE before the actual showing?? (or tell them where it's saved)

Re: encrypting wmv files

Dont you have your own personal quotad space?

Re: encrypting wmv files

ROFLMAO :p:

Upload to Internet... Use a Password on the Folder on the Website & your DONE... But let me Guess, you not allowed to use Internet either? :D

Rename the File sounds like the BEST way for you. MyFile.txt or MyFile.php will work I guess. Just enable the "Show File Extentions" on Windown (if your Allowed to) :p:

Re: encrypting wmv files

Whens the video gotta be shown? cant you just leave it at home, or put it onto cd and ask a network admin to put it on the network for you when you need to???

Sorry... but something just doesnt "add up" in this whole scenario if you ask me......

Re: encrypting wmv files

Yeah, rabbit off somewhere, what with the other thread about partial files and now this, one thread and no flags, but two threads about the same topic ( ish )

Why don't ya just come clean and tell us nice folk at CF what you really wanna do, and why ;) we've probably ALL done it before :D
