Re: Change IP address
Thanks for the link - this is a little above my head though! Could anyone translate into laymans terms for me? Thanks!

Re: Change IP address
Well the first important question, is why do you want to change your ip address?
|
Re: Change IP address
Somebody used my PC and I cannot access a couple of forums I should be able to.

Re: Change IP address
ahhh... you've been ip banned from some forums, and you want to change your ip so you can get back on them again. You'll probably get noticed and banned again quite quickly but anyway....
are you using usb or ethernet at the moment? |
Re: Change IP address
Using Ethernet.......

Re: Change IP address
Then you need to change the mac of the Network Card... instructions from the article:
Changing a NIC's mac address Windows Go into device manager and then the properties of the network card. In the "advanced" section there is an option to change the network address/ physical address/ mac address. Check the current mac address using ipconfig /all from a command prompt and then increase the mac address by one digit. Reboot everything and you should have a new ip. |
Re: Change IP address
Not sure how to find the network card.......

Re: Change IP address
ok good. now go back up this thread and head to device manager to change the address. With some NICs it is not possible, but you should be able to do it.

Re: Change IP address
You could allways use a proxy, its easy to do and works.
Some hosts seem to be banning ntl ip's for fun, must be the recent changes or something  |
Re: Change IP address
Changed field called 'Locally Administered Address' by increasing the number by 1 after clicking the Value radio button. Saved, re-booted, still not working.
How do I do it by proxy? ---------- Post added at 23:11 ---------- Previous post was at 23:04 ---------- Okay, worked out how to use a proxy, done that, but still cannot get to the websites I am trying to access. (IP ban still in force). Thoughts? |
Re: Change IP address
The site could be detecting the IP of the proxy rather than your own IP and banning all users of NTL proxies. Have you contacted the forum's admin team about the issue and what have they said?
