That is what I am interested in. I contacted Customer Services who told me Plymouth will not be upgraded until April! How ridiculous is that!!?? This means some people are paying the same as me and will have benefited from six months of more than triple the speed!

I don't think they have thought through their upgrade plan very thoroughly.

I'm paying £35 for 4Mb, soon (I use the term soon loosely) to be 10Mb

Why is that exactly ?

This could be the reason https://www.bethere.co.uk/ Be is the first UK Broadband Internet service provider (ISP) to deliver the awesome power of up to 24 meg broadband. With download speeds up to a staggering 24 meg and upload speeds up to a record-breaking 1.3 meg all for £24 a month.

That's actually a bit dodgy. You will never ever see 24Mbit download even if you connect a modem directly into Be's kit as it's just not possible, you will never upload at 1.3.

Hope they don't advertise that elsewhere apart from their own website!

The real killer there is that they are talking about it like it is the kind of performance you might actually see. You won't even on an absolutely flawless line that's 1 inch long.

From their site:

Quote:

Our first connected customer averaged a record-breaking speed of 18.5 meg.
https://www.bethere.co.uk/companyinf...8A9ED5.tomcat2

Anyway, I didn't think there was anything dodgy about an ISP using the catch-all get-out-words 'up to'. ;)

EDIT

On that page though, look at the photomontage at the top, and then tell me how many different people you can see across all the photos. I suspect this ISP is not a big operation. Customer services could be interesting once they have more than a few dozen subs. :erm:

EDIT AGAIN

Ah, here's another page:

https://www.bethere.co.uk/team.do

Looks like there's eight of them. And seeing as that page proves they can't write web pages that render properly in FF, I resolve never to give them my business. Cowboys.

Be's management team are top notch dude :p:

BTW yes there's nothing dodgy about saying 'up to' I just think it's dodgy when it's impossible to reach the 'up to' :p:
