Who cares what his reasons were - theft is theft. And apparently it's not the 1st time his had his hand in the till, so why on earth shouldn't he now be sharing a cell with a 6-foot tall, hairy bloke called Bubba?!?

And to top it all off he was a member of the Freemasons, this organisation needs closing down now, it harbours criminals with their closed door policy and clandestine meetings.

Who's betting the judge was a member of the Freemason lodge too? Aren't these places frequented by solicitors, coppers, judges and big business men? |

And no, I am not a mason. The sentence isn't that light. People have got suspended sentences for manslaughter in the past. Considering: 1. He pleaded guilty 2. Its his first offence 3. His previous good character 4. The person he stole from was his friend, and although it doesn't say, he could well have spoken in defence of the thief. 5. Most of the money went back into the masons, and so to charity. The rest helped out a friend with his mortgage. It hardly makes him Hitler. He was lucky to have his sentence suspended, but its not a major miscarriage of justice. |

In this case he also left the force because of 'impropriety' - hardly what I would call a pillar of society. |

2. No Quote:
4. Thieving from a friend is OK ??????????? 5. No .. it went to pay his £16000 loan and a mortgage for a friend. !!! :erm: This last bit is suspicious .. why is he paying a mortgage for a close friends house ??? Quote:
He should have the book thrown at him just as it would have been at you or I, even more since he was supposed to be a person of trustworthiness and status. |
Re: He's an ex cop, he's a mason, so.....
At the end of the day the masons pretty much own britain, they are unlikely to throw a lodge master who was also a retired cheif inspector into the nick. and lets face it even in solitary confinement you could hardly call it a safe place for him to be. Theres only one target higher in prisons than paedophiles and thats a copper, a masonic copper would just be the icing on the cake for other inmates aswell.
Thats human socielty pretty much all over the world "its not what you know, its who you know & what you know about who you know" |

Sounds like a suspended sentence was about right to me. |

Freemasons I hate them with a passion. I know one freemason who got off with arson, he was seen by 4 people running away from a fire he'd started, the coppers went to interview him and a few days later they closed the case. He was bang to rights but because he was a member of the masonic lodge magically the case got closed by the police. ---------- Post added at 16:06 ---------- Previous post was at 16:04 ---------- Quote:
No no no the masonic lodge is full of crooked coppers, judges, solicitors and businessmen who are only associated with the freemasons for their own benefit. |

Its true that the masons collect a lot of money for charity, but the few honest masons I know have made it quite clear that they get a lot more out than they put in. In the end consumers and companies pay increased prices to fund this charity along with a cut for the masonic members themselves. We used to pay over inflated prices for products that were cr*p, just because another member on the square was selling them. I have been asked by two different members to go along for functions, but have declined on both offers. I am perhaps a little too straight to get involved with the masons, at work I have spent over £500K on equipment within the last six months, every bit of the system has been bought because it was in my opinion the best unbiased choice. I have however been given the odd signal, and had a few good invites to try to clinch an order often by those on the square. |
Re: He's an ex cop, he's a mason, so.....
A surprisingly light but appropriate sentence for this type of robbery ;)
Given that robbery these days seems to attract a harsher sentence than if you kill someone. |
Re: He's an ex cop, he's a mason, so.....
Yes...it seems these days that it's a more serious crime to copy a film at the cinema via camcorder/mobile/whatever. Unlimited fines and up to ten years inside? What the hell's that about?! You'd probably only get around seven if you just gunned someone down in the street!

He should have gone to prison as he abused the trust placed in him
