Ebuyer problems

Hi all,

I seem to be having problems connecting to the Ebuyer website. I have had this problem for a good 6 months or more I have just never thought of putting a mesage on this forum about it.

Basically the site runs really slow for me, sometimes it just times out and doesnt show up the page.

I think I did read something about the proxy or something on here ages ago but I cant find it.

Just wondered if this was a filter problem with ntl as my friend who is on Tiscali can connect fine to the site.

Cheers

Paul

Ive had this, just go to ebuyer.com instead of the .co.uk and it works fine for me

Ebuyer has been a problem for NTL users for a long time now.
The best thing you can do to try and get round it is to use a proxy.

You can find alist of proxies and how to use them here:

Yeah I cannot get to ebuyer.co.uk either, have to use .com. Very strange that some cannot get to it at all.

Re: Ebuyer problems

Ebuyer tends to always run much slower than most other sites via NTL - again, ebuyer.com is much better.

If I go to .co.uk it re-directs me to .com anyway ....

I have the same slowness through a residential or business adsl connection so it's not really connection orientated It will probably be server slowness due to traffic.

Much the same as their policy for Returns then ;)

not sure on what to do about changing the proxy like someone suggested in doing.

So is this an ntl problem then? as my friend who has a different ISP can access it fine.

Not from my experience ;)
Sent an item back Special Delivery on the Friday. Received the replacement at lunchtime on the Monday. Fastest RMA I've ever done (apart from when I've took the item back in person).

Back on topic though - I find that when ebuyer's site is running slow, if I use one of the proxies for the Colchester area, it works superbly.

Ebuyer's site has been running well recently (without me specifying a proxy aswell)... long may it last!

Re: Ebuyer problems

Finally did a search here after having had problems accessing Ebuyer for several months myself now.

But why is this? What makes that one site "special" that NTL won't load it? seems annoying I have to go about setting proxies just because of one website :(

Re: Ebuyer problems

I would guess its an incompatability with the way the site functions and the proxy software ntl use, the more dynamic the content is the worst the proxies perform as well and ebuyer is fairly dynamic.

Re: Ebuyer problems

Forums are inherently dynamic (i.e. the last forum I remember to generate static pages was UBB5) and I don't usually have a problem.

Re: Ebuyer problems

It has improved lately, ironically around the same time manchester had their proxies disabled. Although they do fail more often then other sites by far with ebuyer been the exception.
